Although Maidana employed a number of roughhouse tactics, I thought his boxing was thoroughly underrated. He's employing a jab that I thought was more effective than Floyd's. He was cutting distance, using head movement as he's moving forward, he had a relatively high guard. I think a lot of people just think he was swinging for the fences with his eyes closed. It takes skills to try and hit mayweather without getting hit back. Overall, I just think he and Robert Garcia are not getting the credit for "boxing."

If you call Maidana's offense ineffective, then you have to do the same for Mayweather as he did alot of missing and got his shots smothered plenty.

Those over and under punches by Maidana were getting through for points, and Mayweathers body was worked in quite a few of the rounds.

I scored it 7-5 for Mayweather but can easily see it a draw or Maidana by a point or two.

I'm one that going in thought this fight was a mismatch but Maidana proved me wrong. The way in which Maidana can arc and chop his punches troubled Mayweather.

........and for those who think Mayweather figured Maidana out in the second half, I dont think Mayweather completely did.
Mayweather was made to dig deep and work every round he earned and that saying something because most of the time Mayweather looks so relaxed as if he's in a sparring session, not so against Maidana.

I would'nt call what Maidana did as "boxing" meaning matching x's and o's, but he certainly employed his jab sometimes as a weapon and often as a range finder when Mayweather was backtracking looking to counter.
