Thats the fight that showed me what a complete fighter Mayweather is. His inside fighting was awesome.

Absolutely, Cortez did what he was supposed to do, from the off the were both being rough on the inside and so he kept seperating them-like he's supposed to. Hatton was bemused by this, normally in his fights it's the refs job to let him get away with murder and only break the fighters apart when Hatton signals him to.
It's a pathetic excuse to suggest cortez was somehow responsible for the huge gulf in ability between the two.

No lie im guilty of thinking hatton was to rugged for Floyd I felt Floyd was soft. Thought Floyd was to soft for Gatti too. Though Sharmba was to skilled for Floyd. I stopped thinking Floyd was gonna loose after hatton Bottom Line

as far as "superfights" the 2 most entertaining of the past 3 years has been hatton-floyd, and marquez-pacquiao 2.....everyother super fight has been dissapointing as far as the "fun" factor....

this is not an excuse, floyd clearly outclassed hatton....but cortez was a small factor, key word small......i feel if cortez didnt break the clinches as much.....i think hatton finishes the fight, cortez more then anythng frustrated hatton....floyd just did his thing still

I think Floyd was taking his time.He coulda taken him out early had he wanted too.
He was patient.HE showed intelligence on how to nuetralize hatton inside game watch the elbows at hatton throat.

Margo - Cotto was a borderline superfight and that was entertaining as hell. So was Cotto vs Mosley. So was Pac vs Hatton and Pac vs Oscar although they were one-sided beatdowns

They were supposed to be superfights, because superfights are not based on the outcome of the fight but rather the personalities involved. For example, if the number 1 and number 2 fighters in terms of popularity are fighting, then it is a superfight. If Mayweather and Pac are fighting, and due to unfortunate circumstances, one of them gets KOed in 1 round, it is still a superfight. however, Pac made those aforementioned fights so anticlimactic.

If those fights were competitive, you could probably be one wjo would be saying that it is a superfight.

The Tyson-Michael Spinks fight was a superfight, yet the outcome made it not one. A KO happening in exactly 81 seconds of the first rounds jsut made the supposed "superfight" become a "footnote" fight.

Minus Amir Khan :deal (not a Khan hater im a fan).

But yeah, the loyalty is truely great from U.K boxing fans without a doubt, its just that we are often very quick to turn against our boxers and athletes too, even after Hatton got KO'd by Pacman alot of people went against him and obviously when Khan got KO'd there was a army of people who went against him, my point is just cause people suffer losses we shouldnt act like they were ''exposed'',

Hatton was at a fringe elite level i believe, not good enough to beat the absolute best but good enough to walk through most in his good day around 2004-2007 Before the Mayweather fight.

I remember that fight though man... The sheer hype and build up is one ive never witnessed, i was pretty new to boxing back then but i was rooting for Ricky cause he seemed couragious and i always like an underdog, good memories and i was gutted when he got knocked out, he battled hard but he could have used those skills that bit more, jabbed his way in instead of going in head first. Respect to Ricky he gave it a go.

The referee was protecting Void by not allowing Hatton to fight on the inside, warning him all the time and taking a point from Hatton for hitting one of the ring ropes with his glove! Void always has the edge with the referee, judges, commentators, venue, etc. Void did not need to cheat in that fight.

There was always gonna come a time when Ricky's defensive frailty's would come back and haunt him, Ricky left himself wide open on too many occasions and his great win over Kostya Tzsyu may have given him a false sense of security in the sense that he took some big shots from a man renowned as a murderous puncher but still managed to walk through them. It's cost him against Floyd and more recently against Pacquiao, you just can't fight elite fighters with your hands down and your chin in the air.

As for Cortez, he was on Ricky's back from the start and he ruined the fight with his continually breaking up of the action it was so frustrating but Hatton was getting beat on the inside anyway, Floyd surprised me with the way he fought Hatton as has been said on this thread already he was beating Hatton at his own game.
