Well if you watch that Hatton also caught Mayweather with a right hand just before that which clearly hurt him a bit. Hatton won that round and as for the footing issue Mayweather had still been knocked back and then triped over Hatton's foot, it would have been a legit flash KD if Mayweather had gone down. Mayweth also din't know where Hatton's satnce was because he was moving in and out so fast.

I honestly did not see how the ref affected the fight. Can someone (Even if biased or not) detail how Cortez affected the outcome?

Because he'd lost most of the previous rounds so was in an even bigger hole?

You can visibly see that Hatton starts fighting with more depression imo, and that, that started happening after the deduction.

seems to me that Hatton also caught Floyd clean with a right hand as Floyd was coming in.

Come on man , Floyd was clearly the better fighter , but was constantly holding on the inside , when he wasnt holding it was either the shoulder or the elbow to the face.

After about 4 rounds Floyd then found the room to work , but was still holding up close.

I dont doubt the result , but I thought the fight could have been a better spectacle with Kenny Bayliss.

What are you basing this on? I've seen Hatton use stiff jabs on occasion to set up power shots and keep his opponents off balance. But I can't recall Ortiz ever using an effective jab. According to Compubox, in the 9 fights from Ortiz they've tracked, he averages 15.1 jabs thrown per round, with 1.5 of them actually landing, for a connection percentage of 9.7%.

Hatton has a reach of around 65 inches , Floyd's 72 inches . Cortez was pulling the fighters apart even before they got close.

Even when Hatton was going down in the 10th Cortez was pushing him away.

Being the third man is a massive reponsiblity and Cortez was and always has been a joke.

And my opinions are not just based on this one fight.

Only desperation I saw was hatton being unable to land clean on floyd and bully him back against the ropes. Also you really think after round 6 someone like hatton wouldn't start to get tired come on man.

Post Tszyu Hatton barely threw a jab , I dont know whether it was down to Billy Graham , but the once world class jab was not used again until Malignaggi , certainly against Mayweather Hatton was throwing less than 10 jabs a round and being a pressure fighter this would be his best weapon.

Its also the reason why he was wiped out in two rounds by Manny.

    Hatton just forgot the basics.

Devintea - Watch this video at 3:55 and see how clearly Cortez affected Hatton's work. Hatton catches Mayweather with a clean jab while he's against the ropes and Cortez jumps in before he can follow it up with anything. If you watch, earlier on in that round Mayweather is allowed to jab grab and wait for Cortez to break which perfectly worked to his advantage.

Devintea - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imWvM3XPleg&feature=related[/ame] Also watch the beginning of round 3. Cortez is a disgrace.

Hatton caught Floyd reaching in, which momentarily knocked Floyd off his stride. However, Mayweather barely missed a beat, and immediately regained his footing. Had he been "hurt" by the punch, I doubt that would have been the case.

While what you say is true, Hatton at one point or another showed he was capable of delivering an effective jab, while Ortiz never has.
