    Calm.

I did contribute something of merit, I gave a few comments on Calzaghe & RJJ regarding their fight + a little more stuff, not much but its still there, better than nothing.

I never said anyone bashed anyone, only that I was reading what seemed like little girls ****.

If its ok with you I think I`ll continue to post stuff of merit/non-merit.

This thread has merit. Jones was past his best but not shot as people claim (he would have beat many good fighters that night) and he was competitive early on. His biggest problem was fighting Calzaghe, a guy who after getting knocked down in several fights, always comes back with a vengence.

The fight started to turn in Calzaghes favor in round #1 right after the KD. That was a hell of a shot Jones put him down with. The fact that Calz. got off the canvas @ the count of 3 or 4 in good shape, was a bit demoralizing to Jones, especially once the fight continued and Calzaghe had mostly recovered. By the end of the round, only about 45 seconds after the KD, Calzaghe was allready the aggressor and actually won that last 45 seconds. Going back to his corner Jones had to be thinking WTF am I up against?

Jones continued to do well in round 2 but Calz. was gaining steam and I think toward the end of the round was the 1st time Calz. stuck his head in there with his hands down and Jones could/did not hit him. So Jones goes back to his corner a little less sure of himself.

Round 3 is when calz. takes control, sometimes overwhelming Jones with his workrate, Jones goes to his corner a little less confident. Rounds 4 & 5 more of the same, but Jones lands some good shots along the way and Calz. swallows them like candy. Round 6 is where Jones starts becoming defeated, as he lands a perfect uppercut, yet Calzaghe is unfazed and keeps throwing and getting the better of it.

By the time of the cut Calz. was well in control of the situation. The cut did not help Jones but it didn't cost him the fight any more than Calz being knocked down cost him the fight. Calz. had taken his best shots and was stepping on the gas by the time of the cut. If anything, I think Calz. took his foot off the pedal the last 3rd of the fight.

Unfortunatley for Jones, he did get thrashed, but by a damn good fighter. Jomes could have fought differently and saved himself for another day, but I give him a lot of credit as he fought to win this fight and went out on his shield.

The difference is when Jones did it he did it with style and it looked natural, When Calzaghe does it, it makes him look like a dick.

i rewatched the fight several times. now the first 6 rounds i had joe 4-2 but of course i had it 57-57 because of the knock down. but after round six to me Jones didn't wina single round joe out worked him and landed more shots and joes punches were more affective. and to be honest round 9 could of been a 10-8 round for joe becuse he had jones hurt pretty bad in that round. joe got into roys head from round 3 on and thats what made it so lopsided.

theres even a point at the end of one of ther early rounds where joe is clowing jone. and you can tell jones is pissed

Can't say I agree with that. I saw the first certainly, and MAYBE the second since Calzaghe seemed to still be recovering from the forearm blow.

After that I didn't see much Jones' way, it might be level after 6 because of the knockdown but that gives a false impression of how competitive the rounds were to me.

    Thanks for the video though.

I agree, this is why I said Calzaghe would win an easy decision even if Roy wasn't cut.

I think Jones did enough to get a rematch, I mean he floored joe and a lot of rounds were disputed, it certainly wasn't a clear cut decision.

I hope you're not serious. I don't want to see Roy fight again and I'm a big fan of Roy.

Roy Jones was SHOT!...Being competitive while being shot doesn't erase the fact that the man isn't who he knows to be...

I find it ****in' HILARIOUS that Calzaghe had such a hard time with a SHOT RJJ...

Had he had a better ****in' trainer who knew what the **** to do when someone gets a cut (like use some ****in' vasoline :patsch) He might've actually thrown some punches...

But it wwas clear and obvious his corner was shitting bricks about the cut and didn't know what the hell to do.

But yes...I think Jones was VERY much in the fight...but Calzaghe won most of those rounds pretty decisively...close...but clear...Jones although landed the cleaner punches...MISSED many of his very quick punches as well...even after the KD he tried to go after the finish and was missing MANY of his punches...and it continued from there...but again...I think Jones could've done more if the cut wasn't there.

Shame, alot of people made it very clear before when, that it was the fragile mental state of Roy Jones that was the overwhelming element/aspect of him being a "shot" fighter. Physically, yeah, Jones looked pretty good the few times he let his hands go or landed a flush countershot. That doesn't mean anyone who knew what to expect was the least bit surprised. Jones started shelling up like a scared turtle the moment Calzaghe made his presence felt. As Enzo Calzaghe stated; "..we knew Jones had fear.."

Jones was maybe not shot, but he was nowhere near the fighter he once had been - which is the only reason Calslappy took the fight, he certainly wasn't interested in becoming just another Jones victim back when Jones was at his peak.
