Just chillin on a tuesday and decided to rewatch the Mayweather-Maidana fight and my goodness what a fight! Maidana brung everything he had in that fight. Went in there to make Mayweather uncomfortable, rough him, throw bombs, dude got down! How can anybody hate on a rematch?

I think this is the closest fight Mayweather has ever had. PPL want to castillo but I thought Mayweather won that 7-4-1 or i guess u can say 7-5. After watching this again its very hard for me to give Mayweather 7 rounds. Can i see it? yeah because there was close rounds but i see draw or u can really see 7 rounds for Maidana. I think Maidana won 3 of the first 4 rounds. some had that and some had 2-2 after 4 which is fine (Mayweather 3-1 after 4 is a BS card!) then after 10 I thought it was 5-5. when u watch the last 2 rounds it looks like Maidana wanted it more. 11th is so close its crazy then the 12th round mayweather held so i dont see how u can give him the 12th round.

Anyhow very close fight just much respect to both fighters. Dont buy into this "I did it for the fans" which mayweather says. he always lays on the ropes but in this fight he had to more because he cant move for 12 rounds the whole time. I truly think he cant with that kinda of pressure. Mayweather had to dig deep to pland counters and fight that monster off. haters will say Devon won 12 rounds to none so Mayweather stinks or yada yada but Maidana is a little bt different with Garcia.

SO I expect almost the same kinda of fight. mayweather is known for adjustments so he will adjust but Miadana will fight the same way. I dont see how wins 9-3 8-4 in rematch. I think its another 7-5 coming down to the wire. If Maidana throws more body shots he actually has a chance to win this one, Ref will be big in this.

    I cant wait!! :bbb:bbb

The first fight was exciting and competitive, the rematch should be the same. Looking forward to it.

Maidana just needs to pace himself better. I dont see him winning but he laid out the blue print on how to beat Floyd. Get him against the ropes and unleash a flury, dont fight in the middle of the ring or else you lose.

Maidana was hardly the first person to put Floyd on the ropes and flurry on him, and it has been proven repeatedly that Floyd can be comfortable and effective in that position. Hardly a blueprint.

What brought Maidana success that was missing from others who employed that strategy was his patient delivery of power salvos (while still keeping up a high work rate, just not being wasteful or getting too wild) and unpredictable angles of attack.

Reducing it to "keeping him on the ropes and unleashing flurries on him" is an inaccurate oversimplification. That 'blueprint' failed DLH, Alvarez, Guerrero, Ortiz, and many others.

It worked for Cotto and Maidana because they were patient in their execution and used efficient controlled aggression to impose their brute strength on Floyd. (but still different approaches; Cotto using his more fundamental base of boxing skills and pecking his way in close with his solid jab, and Maidana relying on the unorthodoxy of his crazy punching angles)

Good post IB. Maidana does have an awkward style and picked his spot sometimes. The awkwardness really caught Mayweather off guard because fighters dont fight like Maidana. yes theres pressure fighters but Maidana throws punches from different angles and actually moves his head when he comes in not like other fights.

Cotto did pick his spots and thats how he was effective. Really cant say theres a blueprint because i dont see anybody fighting like maidana, hes got his own type of style.

I had it 6-6. Close decision either way is understandable.

Maidana jab was great in that fight if I remember correctly as I watched it only once. It's fundamental for a pressure fighter to use his jab while cutting the ring. For the thread I had it 7-5 clear for Floyd.

It was a hard fight in that it was physically exhausting but Maidana did a lot of dirty **** in that fight. It would have been a better fight if it had of been a much cleaner fight. I've always liked Maidana and I've said as much but I did lose a measure of respect for him after that. He did tag Mayweather with some nice shots but for the most part he was getting blocked and countered. Mayweather definitely won the fight and I can't wait for the rematch.

Maidana fought no dirtier than usual. Well, maybe a little - but Mayweather coped just fine.

Frankly, it was the way Maidana was expected to approach Mayweather and I honestly thought he could have pushed the envelope a lot more (http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=16025963#post16025963) and he probably will do just that in the rematch.

duckweather don't go toe to toe.

he goes into his shell like a turtle or vacation or fake retires when he senses danger.

Had it tied after 6 if i remember correctly and Mayweather had a better second half. Think i had 7-5 mayweather for final. Im looking forward to rematch. I think Mayweather moves a little more this time around and gets the 9-3 8-4 but it will still be a tough fight for him
