Kelly Pavlik could of been an atg if he had added body punches to his arsenal. He could of stopped Rubio a couple rounds earlier, and he could of made the fight with bhop more competitive. All he did was stalk Bhop inch by inch and eventually allowed bhops movement put him out of position. If you don't have good faints you better know how to punches around the elbows and in the soloplex

Off topic: Bhop and Rubio lose to their up coming opponents via bodyshot stoppage.

Some people thought Kelly Pavlik would beat Joe Calzaghe.

    I personally never saw it.
    Too slow.

Pavlik never would've fought Calzaghe. He wouldn't even fight Abraham and bitched out of fighting Bute because he was "only" getting $1 million.

If you're going to be that slow you better know how to body punch or faint. That win would of looked good on Calzaghe's record.

That's true. I mean, Monzon partied harder than Pavlik and still an atg. We knew Pavlik had grit and could go toe to toe, but double jab could only get you so far. That rematch with Taylor was too close to call. Pavlik seemed too one dimensional to me, but going toe to toe with him was a bad idea tho. Going to war with Pavlik in his prime, dangerous fight for anyone. Not the biggest one ko puncher, like Miranda was at the time, Pavlik mostly an accumulation puncher with a good chin.

Kelly had less than zero chance of being a atg, no chance of being a great or even true elite. some of the **** I read on here is crazy, fan BOYS not real FANS.

for one, the ONLY reason monzon is considered an atg is because legends gerow to immense proportions decades later after retirement.

he truly wasn't even all that good, its just he fought 90% stiffs. I know I know you guys hate facts

I always thought that Pavlik would have benefitted greatly by adding feints to his attack. I remember yelling at the TV for him to feint more when he fought Rubio.

He destroyed a guy that ended Hopkins' historic reign (even if you though Hopkins deserved the narrow nod over Taylor). That counts for a lot, not just a little "got lucky" sort of deal.

Plus, he does have a couple other decent enough supporting wins.

Perhaps the dumbest post I've ever seen on ESB, and I've seen a lot, because I think this poster is serious.

Monzon is the GOAT at Middleweight. Why? Not because of our interpretation of how skillful he was or who we think he might have been able to beat, but because he performed at an amazing level with THE BEST RESUME AT THE WEIGHT!

you can believe that, he is NOT a 10th the skilled you pretend he was.

watch some tape of him and his opponents then talk to me

Pavlik had a nice solid set of natural skill and power. He was never developed with the team he had. Problem was he never left them as they hid his alcoholism, which destroyed the poor lad. Sad story.

Fans of Hagler, Greb, and Robinson might respectfully disagree.
