Love Hamed or hate him, he was good for boxing. That skinny little dude can punch! We need more of him in boxing these days.

barrera didn't fall for the okie doke and used simple boxing technique to beat a very unorthodox fighter.

Yeah, everyone hates Hamed so they make this out to be a huge asswhooping. 115-112 Barrera. Hamed was inactive and gave rounds away.

That is after point deduction and pretty generous toward Hamed.

Hamed had as many fans that hated him as loved him so when he did finally lose the haters dug the knife in and made the fight sound like a total ass kicking when the reality was very different.

Hamed totally fell in love with his power. If you watch his earlier fights he was a counter puncher. He'd stand in front of you, make you miss and then take your head off with a big counter. By the time he faced Barrera he would just leap in and try to take your head off, often missing wildly and leaving himself off balance.

He was a great little fighter for a short time. He was great for the sport, made fans sit up and take notice of fighters at lower weights.

Yeah, Barrera won very comfortably. Naseem, by this fight, was cutting corners in the gym and had generally lost his drive in the sport. I guess money and comfort can do that. I think Stewart said he was one of the most unfulfilled potentials he'd trained because of the discipline lacking towards the end and, of course, retiring early... Probably because his ego couldn't handle the loss mixed with an already waning drive and having money.

Hamed's downfall was he left Brendan Ingle who had trained him since he was a baby, they had that style down to a T, Oscar Suarez & Manny Steward tried turning him into a stand-up, hands up boxer which took away from his awkwardness & hands down defense which Naz did so well.

BTW what a great fight Pac vs Naz at super bantam would have been!
