Usyk looked old fat and slow

Playing around vs a lower tier opponent

He looked like Tyson Fury

 

Usyk looked so old, so much fat tissue covering his huge muscles. He looked like a man in his 40s who injected himself lots of steroids, carrying huge muscles and fat but still looking old. Actually he looks like the current state of Brock Lesnar.

 

Well he sent Rico to Suplex City.

Rico looked terrible there at the end. Face first over the ropes. Uses the ropes to get back up. Intentionally spits the bit. Constantly grinning at the ref to show the ref that he needs a nice slow stroll to the corner to get his mouthpiece replaced. Ignoring commands from the ref to walk forward. Stumbles when trying to start walking to the corner. Eats all the punches in the world while slumping in the corner and laying on the ropes. Stands back up but has stiff legs.

There were a ZILLION reasons for the ref to wave that off. Rico was C-O-O-K-E-D.

So you are one of the few people on the planet who don't think it was a bad stoppage?

 

It's not the travesty people are claiming it to be. Personally, I would have let Rico get back to his corner and then discussed it with his team whether he was good to go back out for the 12th. The point is, the ref got given plenty of signals that the fight should have been stopped. The narrative is that Rico was perfectly fine and showed zero signs of distress and it was the worst stoppage in the history of boxing. Bro, I've seen worse stoppages in the past few months. Parker/Wardley was a worse stoppage for goodness sake.

 

If you think those punches were clean or effective, why wasnt there any bruising? Why wasnt Usyk hurt at all?

They were all arm punches and Rico immediately smothered his work like Porter and Maidana and you act like it was some master art piece. Insanity.

 

Hasn't Usyk's entire career been based upon his ability to go one step above every opponent he faces?

That's the biggest strength he has, and why I think you could pick him in a historic head to head against any fighter because it's just what he does.

He matches his opponent, but then steps up to that next level in every fight he has had. I think people are probably fooled a bit by him making Dubois quit two times....But that's more down to Dubois than Usyk.

Usyk doesn't blow fighters away that's not his style, his ability to adapt whilst he's in there like some kind of AI computer programme is what makes him an all time great. You don't see fighters like him at HW, which is why he's misunderstood at times. Bellew took him more rounds and was more competitive than Dubois, does that mean Bellew could be competitive with Dubois? Hell no.

We're at the point now where we give Usyk's opponents more credit than is objectively correct in fights.

First off slow your roll. The freaking guy is a PART TIME boxer in his freaking forties and has had what 2 bouts in 3 years ? Hardly the stuff of legends. He knows nothing more about boxing then most who post here.
It was a horrible stoppage end of story. The bell had already rung ending the round and that fighter had earned the right to see if he could recover between rounds especially considering the bout was close and had been well contested.
