Rewatching Calzaghe vs Kessler right now

joe will not take the fight...he dosent like rematches and he knows mikkel was injured and would perform for 12 rounds and not just 5

 

As a Calzaghe fan, I would worry about a Kessler rematch but to say Joe must know he cant win is exaggerating a bit.

As long as JC wasnt any worse than in their 1st fight then I think he wins still albeit closer than the 1st time.

Seriously but, what more do you want from the guy, he beat a potentially great 28 yr old undefeated fighter when he was 35 himself, obviously if any fighter keeps on going then someone will beat him whether it be styles or age or both combined.

As you said, Kessler had his chance & JC won fair & square, both fighters came out higher regarded than before they went in as both showed they were A+ fighters, let Joe retire in peace, let Kessler take over as king.

If he was injured then he should have pulled out of the fight & if he got injured during the fight then it was Calzaghe that injured him so he still beat him.

Can you not just accept that Mikkel had his chance & lost to the better fighter, jesus.

im not sure kessler would beat Calzaghe in a rematch if so he had to knock him out, theres no one who hits that many times and is so hard to hit out there as Calzaghe

I think Calzaghe will beat ewrybody if it goes 12 rounds.... To beat him they must knock him out..

Kessler fought a terrible fight against Joe. Joe adapted to the situation, whereas Kessler failed to do so. It is a bit of a blight on Kessler, but more of a credit to Joe.

I think that Kessler can beat him, and I think he would provide a better showing of himself if they met again.

The fight will never happen though. Kessler had his shot and came up short. Can't accuse Joe of being afraid of fighting him either, it's been done plenty of times before the first fight.

 

Try to wacth the macth without sound, it is so close.

 

If anything Joe will make the necessary adjustments to avoid some of the mistakes he made in the Kessler fight and dominate the sequel even more thoroughly. Joe's been fighting fighters at a very high level of talent and experience since the Kessler victory. Kessler should continue to hone his craft and concentrate on the emerging talent coming up to challenge him. He doesn't need another boxing lesson at the hands of the master. Bad for his self-confidence at this point in his career.

 

It'd be the same for me I think.
I was going for Kessler when I first watched it, and I watched it at a pub and the audio was drowned out by the pub noise.

I pretty much agreed with the judges. I had Joe winning by 4 points.

 

I was in Cardiff and thought Kessler lost by a fair margien, but after I've seen the fight without the sound it's was so much closer, you can argue for a draw.
I'm not saying so, but it was damn close.

 

wow we just reached the biggest point of pathetic opinions please please joe won that fight easy because he adjusted and used his jab i like kessler but style makes fight's this fight was not even close who the **** is talkin draw wow yeah i think against roy was a draw too ,joe will beat kessler at any time,joe hurt his on hand in this fight otherwise he might knocked him out ,i mean common calzaghe is a special fighter!!!!!

Im sorry but ive gotta disagree. The fight was close for the first 4 rounds. After that, Joe had figured him out and it was an easy decision. And if anyone watched the figth on Setanta or owns the dvd, in the post fight interviews kessler said that his hands were fine. So theres that argument gone as well. Joe won hands down, get over it.

 

Kessler could beat him, dont think he would though, he'd have to force the pace and A) I dont think he's capable of putting that kind of pressure on JC for 12 rounds and B) Calzaghe's already worked out how to take the jab and right hand away... his own quicker southpaw jab. I'd go the other direction and say it would be an easier time than the first fight, Kessler's not show anything new in his last couple of fights. He's still the best at 168 and only person I think would beat him are JC again and Hopkins.
