I'm currently in the process of rewatching the career of Canelo and I've just watched the Liam Smith fight meaning it's Golovkin next.

With the trilogy fight being seemingly round the corner I thought might like to revisit this with me.

I'm going to give my rbr thought, can't promise I'll watch it all in one go because, well life.

But if anyone else wants to rewatch this fight and share their thoughts, feel free.

Before I start, here is my most recent scorecard so will be interesting to see if I still agree with my previous watching.

    Alvarez: 2,10,11,12
    Golovkin: 1,3,5,6,7,8,9

No matter how many times I watch the first one I always have it 8-4 GGG
The 2nd fight seems to be between 7-5 and 9-3 to GGG as there were a few close rounds

    Round 1: Golovkin

There isn't an awful lot that happens this round. Both men defend really well and land few shots.

Difference for me is Golovkin is the one pressing forward behind his jab.

Very close round as the first round almost always is.

I had it 8-4 GGG so I agree with your current card.

The 118-110 scorecard by Adalaide Byrd for Canelo has to be one of the most corrupt scorecards in the history of boxing.

    Round 2: Canelo

The jab of Golovkin isn't as dominant this round as Canelo is moving a lot more fluidly, and gets in some nice flashy combos.

    Good round for Canelo.

    Round 3: Golovkin

Canelo doesn't dance as much this round and tries standing his ground, but even though he lands some nice counters, he gets jabbed back time and time again. And to this point Golovkin is defending just as well as Canelo.

What seals this close round though is the last 30 seconds were Canelo is just running from Golovkin, throws the round away, as Lara did to him when the two fought.

    Round 4: Golovkin

Good round for triple G here. He matches the combos of Canelo, bosses behind his jab and backs Canelo against the ropes. For a significant amount of the round.

I'd say this and round 2 are the only clear rounds so far though.

No point, to watching one of the biggest fights in MW history? Featuring the current number 1 P4P and the current number 1 MW? Featuring a fight between two men signed to fight on a trilogy?

And more importantly than all the above, this is the next fight on my list.

You said you had it 8-4 for GGG. You listed 11 rounds excluding the 4th round. Where are you at on rounds as we speak? When somebody rewatcheas a fight 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 years later and want to score an rbr out of the blue its because they saw something that may change their perspective. If i watched a fight 10 years ago and i had fighter B beating fighter C 116-112, am i really going to score the fight the opposite way? Its a waste of time knowing youre going to score the fight the same way. Great fight or not.

    Round 5: Golovkin

Best round so far for Golovkin who now looks well in control, driving Canelo back consistently and landing well.

    I've just finished round 5.

I think we just see the sport differently. Watching and scoring is never a waste of time for me. Its literally what I enjoy doing.

Which is why at some point I will be rewatching Taylor vs Catterall and letting @CST80 know my thoughts.

That point being when I've finished my Canelo binge.

I always thought it would be cool to get a few boxing fans together, pick a classic or controversial fight and get together like once a month on Discord and have one person share their screen and play the fight on Youtube and everyone can score the fight and chat and whatnot.
