ive thought about doing this. the problem is that the majority of people on here dont even know how to score a fight. they think they do, everyone does. after all, whats there to know? reality is that they dont. the fight this weekend was another perfect example of people unable to tell whats actually happening in the ring. and its the ones most proud of their scoring that are the most clueless. but they got the mic, so they set the narrative.
Round 8: Golovkin Golovkin seems to be taking over now and for the first time is starrting to drive Canelo back and continuing to outland him. Also Canelo is cut now, which probably makes the shots from Golovkin look worse.
Round 9: Golovkin Golovkin setting such a hard pace this round. Canelo does land some good shots, but Golovkin lands better, and again finishes the round very strong snapping back the head of Canelo.
Round 10: Golovkin Excellent round for Golovkin here, certainly a far cry from an old man in the ring. The volume of punches he's bringing is insane and Canelo can't really deal with it. Instead picking his shots when Golovkin slows down for the middle minute.
Round 11: Golovkin Canelo just doesn't seem able to match the pace and volume of Golovkin. Again he lands some nice counters, but no nicer than the ones landed by Golovkin. Like a lot of rounds, hard to score but I give this one Golovkin. The rounds I'd say are swing rounds. 3,5,6,10,11. Which is ridiculous, but demonstrative of the level this is being fought at.
Round 12: Canelo Golovkins volume didn't impress me as much as the big shots from Canelo here. And the cut worsened on Golovkins face which always makes it look worse punch wise. But again a ridiculous round to score. Could easily have gone the other way. So I have 3,5,6,10,11,12 as swing rounds. But my actual score is 115-113 Golovkin. But like I've always said, I can see why Canelo got the nod here, even though I disagree.
I don't score fights because 1) I'm not an expert (or paid off) judge and 2) it takes away from the enjoyment of the moment. Sure, in some RBR's I'll say I have so and so up by a round or two, but usually I just take in the whole thing and make up my mind accordingly. Which is NOT how fights are scored....round by round, not the whole thing. This is after listening to or watching fights for lots of decades. The old man would watch the Friday night fights in B&W back in the 50's and I'd be there as well.
GGG started strong, Canelo looked tired early, but as the round wore on and down the stretch Canelo dug down deep and fought his way back into the round. By the end of round 11, there was more clean power punching landed by Canelo and more damage inflicted on GGG that round.
Never got why people got so cranky and butt hurt over this decision, it really could've gone either way.
