if that happened in the first three rounds, it could have been considered. but seeing that diaz absorbed tremendous amount of punishment before that one punch ko has affected its quality IMO.

Could be a candidate, but Sylvester-Castillejo was damn scary. Also Miranda-Banks, Abraham-Ayala, Abraham-Miranda (2nd kd), Urango-Vilches...

 

That is one classic looking KO in slow-mo. He caught Vilches in mid punch right on the lower part of the jaw. Brrrrutal.

Come to think of it, I think the KO came as an accumulation of the punishment and damage Pacman inflicted on Diaz. Not to take away from Pacman's performance but it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

 

I dont know bout KO of the year but a BEATDOWN sure was.....
