Just watched it for the first time. I haden't seen much of either previously but what I had seen I'd liked. Good action fight with Ruddock's smash playing a huge role. Good effort by a in shape Page, but taking so many flush shots sapped his cardio quickly I feel. I think he didn't like Ruddock's power and thats why he kept getting in close, landing pitty-pat shots. Ruddock did a good job in stopping him from getting off up close. I wish Page tried to box more. Thoughts? I think Ruddock looked as much of a beast in this fight as he ever looked. This runs contrary to the idea that he was ruined by the Tyson encounters.
In the era of tyson, holyfield, bowe and lewis this man was a universally regarded top contender. Hard to do much better than he did.
There was 1 man who actually stopped Lennox Lewis in 2 , went d distance with prime Douglas , outpointed quite a prime Ferguson , went d distance and possibly robbed vs Tony Tucker , possibly robbed vs Orlin Norris , avoided by Bowe , stopped Damiani , Seldon and Maskaev and KOd Henry Akinwande in 10 . I think that 1 man did much much mucho better than Ruddock , and would have done better vs Tyson .
Ruddock looked bad in this fight. He was gassed from throwing bombs. He was forcing them. Floyd Patterson was trying to teach him to box but Razor just wanted to end the fight early with that uppercut. Ruddock had alot of physical ability but he wasted much of it by being a one handed slugger. He had started his career as more of a boxer but when he realized he could hit with the left it actually hurt his progress. Page gave a good account of himself. I agree it was a good action heavyweight fight.
Good fight, Page showed that he had a heck of a set of whiskers here He took some huge bombs from Razor before going out
Page could always take a punch, for the most part, but Ruddock at that time was too much for him.Greg, hadn't been a real good fighter up to that point for about seven years.
good fight i watched live on showime......feb 15 1992....bert cooper fuked cecil copper on the undercard and broke his nose.........back to ruddock/page....ruddock tried to hard to knock the fuk outta him....should have went to the body more early on/ when he did by rd 5 or so page started dropping his hands....tail end of rd 8 the smash lands and page gets caught on the ropes and the bell ends and page walks pissed drunk to his corner..and the fight is waved off and rightly so....he was fukedf up....ruddock b- that nite
Coffee`s nose was pouring blood from that uppercut. When Cooper put the crackpipe down he was a helluva Pitbull.
