Round 7: Cat Eugh what an awful round. Don't wanna give it to anyone to be totally honest. Cat nicks it on the strength of a jab opening up a cut. Other than that nothing happened. Awful round. 64-69 I have Cat 6-1 up. But there's been 3 very close rounds. So it could, could feasibly be 4-3 Cat.
Round 8: Cat Big round for Catterall as his dominance really shines through. He's landed that left hand all night and now it drops Taylor after a 3 pinch combo. 72-79 on my card. But I can see an argument for 5-3 Catterall at this point.
Round 9: Taylor Catterall didn't really do anything effective this round. His clinches all followed a punch from Taylor so just guaranteed he would lose the exchange. 83-88
Haha fair play. I'll read on. I was there live actually thought Taylor won but I was high up, hard to see punches landing from a not so good vantage point.
Round 10: Taylor Awful round to watch with hardly anything of note happening other than a points deduction. But again I felt that Cat was clinching after Taylor landed a punch so the exchanges all favour Taylor. 10-8 round. 93-96
Round 11: Cat Very close round this one. But Catterall seemed to do the better work jabbing on the outside. But then Taylor gets a point deducted which really puts the decision beyond doubt at this point. 101-106 Is there an argument for Taylor to be up in rounds 6-5 at this point? A very weak one, but I guess rounds 2,4,7,9,10,11 could feasibly be argued for Taylor. Which. Essentially puts them even on the most generous Taylor card going into the final round.
Round 12: Cat Those sharp 1-2s are back and even though Taylor tries to force the action he isn't able to outland Catterall this round. Taylor does land a good pair of lefts, but is that enough to steal him the round? 110-116 Can I see an argument that Taylor could potentially be awarded 2,4,7,9,10,11 and 12. I guess I can. It's not an argument I'd make, but it is one that can be made. I guess it's not quite the worst robbery of all time. I'd put it up there with the second Golovkin Canelo fight. The wrong man got the decision, but with a bit of mental athletics you can see why the decision was rendered. Aside from a couple of bad rounds, this isn't a bad fight at all imo. I mean it's certainly not Hopkins - Calzaghe level. And a huge level away from Okolie Askin.
This fight was a perfect example of the wrong man winning, but you can make an argument that Taylor won 7 rounds. The issue is you have to WANT to give him 7 rounds to do so. I agree with the GGG-Canelo comparison but I would compare it to the first fight. You can score it 6-6 if you want, but I don't believe that is fair. You would be giving rounds to Canelo likely based off of want rather than what actually happened. Catterall won this fight for me. I think I had it 8-4 for him and I thought it was a very poor decision.
Thanks for taking the time and giving it a second watch, much appreciated, and fine... I'll take it. So... not as egregious as you first thought then eh? Round 1 Catterall 10-9 Round 2 Taylor 10-9, very close Round 3 Taylor 10-9, very close Round 4 Catterall 10-9, very close Round 5 Catterall 10-9 Round 6 Catterall 10-9 Round 7 Taylor 10-9 Round 8 Catterall 10-8 Round 9 Taylor 10-9 Round 10 Taylor 10-8 Round 11 Taylor 9-9 Round 12 Taylor 10-9 113-112 Taylor Like I said before, I have no issue with anyone scoring it for Catterall, it's just all of the worst robbery ever talk that was annoying the **** out of me, when it wasn't even close IMO.
116-110 Catterall? Whoa thats kind of wide. I had it 113-112 for Catterall if i rember correctly. Interesting take tho luf.
