Let's say this fight happened differently and Khan won via 12 decision and as a result stayed with the same trainer and promoter, where on the world stage do you think he'd be now? Personally I could see him being another stay at home fighter being fed the likes Nate Campbell (a shot version) amongst other similar standard fighters.
yeah he would eventually have gotten his chin shattered, khan was a ko waiting to happen it had to happen at some point, it seems to have turned out well for him now.
That version of Khan was always a K.O. waiting to happen, if wasn't Prescott it would have been someone else. There is no way in hell he'd have managed to remain undefeated, poor conditioing, poor corner, poor everything really.
His old promoter (who's name we shall not mention but who's a huge ****) would have kept him safe with carefully selected easy picks though I think he managed it well for quite long with Calzahe and Hatton.
That was the old Khan that would get out of his game plan after a single exchange. Khan is a different fighter now and I still think he should rematch Prescott. It's never good to walk away from a loss and completely ignore it regardless of how Prescott is doing lately compared to Khan.
He managed it well with Calzaghe and Hatton but it didn't do well for them. Calzaghe took full advantage of it and only left his country for an ancient Jones Jr. and Hopkins. Hatton though definitely didn't benefit much from it. Sure the Tszyu fight was a huge win but he wasn't going to get away with his fighting style in England fighting anywhere else and that clearly showed in his losses.
It's amazing to think that it was only three years ago...Khan has changed so much, and so has his opposition. If someone had told me ( back in 2008 ) that Khan would go on to do what he has done, I would have laughed at them. I was even doubtful if he would ever be a world champion...
his chin got better as seen in the maidana fight. he survived it. funny how strickland use to have a decent beard. now its horrible
As others have already said, he would have continued fighting in the same way, making the same mistakes, and eventually falling victim to someone sooner or later. He also wouldn't have earned the respect he has now. I remember at the time I wasn't that big of a fan of him, and was pleased to see him humbled.
This is how I feel. He won me over in the Olympics, lost it all fighting cans, and then made me a fan again after Prescott basically.
I can't explain it I was a fan during the olympics and for say his 1st 10-15 fights then something changed and I wanted to see him get KTFO which he eventually did, but around the time he was going to face Kotelnik I was back on board.
Same here - I thought he desreved to be Ko'd by Prescott at the time as he was so far up his own arse it was unreal , he's made a believer out of me now though since the maidana fight - he showed he could weather the storm when it broke and didnt suffer a flashback to the prescott loss and panic.
