Williams, like Tyson was later, was on a two fight a month schedule. had fought two weeks earlier, was off the heels of a revenge win over Sly Jones, and back in the gym ticking over ready for the next one. yes Satterfield was 30 years old when he blasted Williams. Whereas Bob was probably better aged 27 years old losing to Rex. pity Williams was never as tough as 22 year old Rex Layne.
Apart from you mentioning his name ,and thereby giving you yet another opportunity to dump on him. Exactly what relevance has Williams to a HIGHLIGHT REEL ABOUT REX LAYNE?
And Archie Moore weighing 167lbs floored Satterfield 4 times and ko'd him in3 rds. What exactly is the relevance of either result in a thread about Rex Layne?
Well blow me, I didnt know that! Thanks for that piece of secret info! ps Are you salivating as you type?
I don’t swoon over Layne as others do about Williams. But let’s credit Layne for being the better fighter.
You credit whom you like.Williams is not relevant to this thread and it would be good manners from you not to keep bringing him into it.
A young version of Rex Layne clobbered the guy who flattened Cleveland Williams. I think that’s worth a comparison.
And an experienced 79 fight Folley beat an 8 fight Bonavena and you also think thats worth noting! And I think -------- well never mind!
Thanks, polite way to disagree! I might be wrong about Whyte, I haven't seen a lot of his fights, but from what I've seen he is big, fast for his size, and athletic with a dangerous left hook and he creates angles to use it. Whyte looks formidable to me, especially when his size and strength are factored in. I've seen Whyte vs. Browne, Povetkin, Joshua, and maybe a few others. I also watched the HL video posted at the front of this thread. He looks like a fighter to avoid unless there is a compelling reason to fight him. I suspect that a lot of fighters who are considered ATGs would not look good/impressive in a ring with Tyson Fury. Fury is a one of a kind. A 6-9, 275 pound fighter with great fighting instinct, quickness, movement, strength, good power...the only thing he might lack is that he is probably not a conditioning fanatic. Losing to TF does not diminish a fighter IMO.
