Best version of Layne right? After Marciano he was useless and you know it.

Ten of Layne's first 37 wins were over light heavyweights.

I shouldn't have to school you on the history of Rex

He was 34-1 in his prime. Then Marciano decapitated him, ruined him, broke him bodily and spiritually. Then he went 16-23

You're confusing being inconsistent with being shot. And i think you did it on purpose.

I think only the most hardcore and local fans would even know his name.

He doesn't seem to have the tools to compete with the new breed. It was best for him that he came along when he did.

No you shouldn't have to school me ,not on any aspect of boxing ,because you cant!
FYI only Spinks and Carl Williams have win v loss ratios as low as Layne's, so that something else you got wrong! Further to that, YOU mentioned consistent nobody else.

He might have done ok in the crusierweight scene of the 80s with Deleon, Ocasio, Camel, Qawi, etc

He couldn't pick up a strap in a decade in which Don Cokkell was rated number 2 and a 39/40 years old light heavyweight was the standout contender!

Because Layne was more consistent than all of them, he just happened to fight on well beyond his prime, like an idiot. Against top contenders no less

I never said Layne had the best w/l ratio, I said he was more consistent. In his prime he was more consistent that 90% of the dudes on the list. Stop equating overall w/l to consistency. It's like saying Ali was inconsistent because he lost to Spinks

Give me one good reason why mcvey (or anybody else on this forum) should despise a courageous, hard-working warrior like Marciano. Why is it, that those who don't agree with you guys are labeled haters?

I for one don't think Layne would beat any of the men mentioned in the OP (though an upset win or two of course can't be ruled out, like Seamus says)... but that doesn't mean that I hate him (or Marciano). I'm just expressing an honest opinion.

Doing it on purpose to degrade a very good fighter. He knows the history of the man.

Sometimes us Rockistas confuse modernism with rock hate, apologies

Still think any man who beats 2 world champs and multiple top contenders wouldn't lose to a bunch of abc champs

Mcvey has a long history of hating Marciano as does one or two others. Otherwise why make a Layne thread trying to insult the man? I don’t care if you think he losses to all of them. You would be dead wrong but you’re entitled to your opinion. Nor do I know you or think you hate Marciano
