Hey Just discovered someone uploaded this recently. I hope Janitor and MF sees this, they have always been a strong supporters of Rex Layne. Heres your chance to see a Young Motivated full of **** and vinegar Rex Layne take some huge wallops to the head, and comeback to defeat a dangerous tiger bob satterfield. Layne shows he packs quite a punch here too, not to mention oodles and oodles of toughness.

Makes you reflect on Marciano really ,given the fact that he more or less ruined Layne.
PS Good to see you back Suzie!

What a comeback against one of the hardest hitting Heavys ever...Layne did something that Valdes and Bob Baker could not do against BoB SAT. (get off the floor to win) shows you how hard Marciano could punch (one shot) and he severed 4 of Laynes teeth at the nubs with that punch...to show you how REAL it was.....

Hey Layne looked like he had long arms...mabey it just appeared that way

Layne was one of the better contenders at that time, BUT this was the 7th time that Satterfield was stopped. He was also stopped another 6 times after that bout with Layne.

James Dawson of the New York Times wrote, on the stoppage:

“The hope in Satterfield’s corner was that he could survive the session, but Referee Mark Conn thought otherwise. Springing in between the men as they struggled on the ropes, Conn separated them and halted the fray. The time was 2:56.

“There were many in the gathering who thought that the referee’s action was a hasty one, in view of the short time remaining. It seemed to this observer that Satterfield could have finished the round safely.”

I believe even if it wasn't stopped at that time, Layne would have finished him in the next round.

Judges' scoring at time of stoppage: Judge Arthur Aidala 3-3-1, Referee Mark Conn 4-3 Satterfield, Judge Harold Barnes 4-3 Layne.
