Layne had a good chin [till Marciano ruined him] and he could crack a bit himself, his weakness was body shots ,since Shavers was primarily a head hunter ,I go for Rex by stoppage in 9rds as Earnie gasses out.

Anything could happen here but if I had to put money down I would go with Layne who was more durable and had better stamina.

Layne and Shavers would both come to fight and it is unlikley that this fight would go the distance.

The shot that started it all against Norton was a bodyshot.

    PRIMARILY__________ Originally,chiefly,mainly.
    Odhams Concise English Dictionary.

Norton was kod by every big puncher he met .Layne sparked bangers like Satterfield.

I agree with the consensus here. Layne gets off the floor early to stop an out of breath shavers late.

I agree 100%...especially after watching the bombs Layne took from Satterfield

I'm not sure if Layne could take those bombs from Shavers though.

Satterfield was a big puncher, especially for a 175 lber but I wouldn't say he hit as hard as Shavers except pound for pound perhaps.

Satterfield was faster than earnie and his power was also lethal...his stamina was also better than earnie's and fought in a kamakazzie style...kill or die

Shavers would win here. I get the hunch many have not seen much of Shavers. He was skilled, had quick hands and KO power with the left, right, or uppercut. In addition his body shots landed with a deep thud.

Layne was not one for defense or movements, and his skills on film look less.

I think Shavers wins inside five rounds.

By any chance, did you get to check out Layne against Satterfield on youtube?

Aside from Norton, Shavers lost to every contender he fought, and also to some non-contenders. Layne beat Walcott, Saterfield, and a couple of othe rtop 10 fighters before Marciano bout. After that he was not same.

Shavers defeated Norton, Ellis, Young, Bugner, and R Williams. To say Shavers lost to every contender he fought is not true.

Shavers also gave Holmes and Ali some real scares.

Not yet, but I will. I have been very busy lately during the day and on weekends. I'm even going to miss the Klitschko vs Gomez fight!

I am buying a house, and getting married.
