He is still the most recognizable name in his division.

You, as a fan, shouldn't worry about the amount of money the boxers would earn by fighting each other. I can see that you are actually only trying to discredit Rigo with no intention to actually support any Super Bantam boxer, but it's false that the other titleholders wouldn't earn good money against Rigo. As the matter of fact, they would surely collect bigger paychecks fighting Rigo than fighting some unknown opponents and most likely even each other.

Another thing is, Rigondeaux is without any question the best fighter in the division and nobody can dispute that. Not Leo Santa Cruz, not Kiko and not anybody else. Also, none of those boxers were included in a big, high profile fight before like Rigo was, and obviously if someone wants to get the recognition, there's only one guy to beat.

Rigo is toxic. Who cares how good he is when nobody can even watch the guy fight because hr isn't on tv? What is the point? TV = $$$$$$. That is how you make money as a boxer is fighting on a network that pays a license fee or your fight. Rigo isn't going to generate any money for someone like Frampton or Quigg who can fight on TV and make more money. Where do you think all this money is going to come from? Rigo can't sell tickets either. Do you understand how the business of boxing works? :huh

I understand how the boxing works, but I also believe that you are intentionally trying to get off the point.

Let's take Quigg's last fight for example. Quigg himself isn't a very big name to begin with. His opponent was a guy called Tshifhiwa Munyai. Do you honestly believe that Tshifhiwa Munyai draws more attention and money as Quigg's opponent than Rigondeaux, a well known champion who recently schooled Donaire in a mega fight? Of course you don't and there's the point. Even if Santa Cruz fought Quigg, would it bring him more money and recognition than fighting Rigondeaux? Very unlikely.

Rigondeaux vs. Santa Cruz is the biggest fight to make right now in the division. Martinez isn't even nearly that big, Quigg is just a minor WBA titleholder and Frampton is not even a world titlist.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if either Martinez or Frampton will earn as much money for their fight as Rigo earned for the Donaire or even Agbeko fight. My bet is not.

The truth is that those guys are fine fighting low risk opponents for small amount of recognition and money, rather than fighting the champion Rigondeaux, a fight that they themselves aren't very confident of winning, hoping that Rigo's name will now pale due to promotional issues so that they could possibly gain more recognition. What's even more sad is that there are fans who support that way of doing things because they like or dislike certain boxers.

You have to remember that Rigo is no longer with Ol' Bob, so he'll probably be showcasing on Showtime for his next fight. He's still the man to beat at 122, like it or not.

I am certainly not saying Quigg or Frampton are great fighters or even good fighters. I think you think being a good fighter = money which that is not the case. Yes Rigo is the best in the division but he isn't TV friendly and he can't sell more than 5 tickets. That doesn't mean he isn't good just means he isn't going to generate any $$$$$. You need to understand this. Rigo has nobody to blame but himself for this. There is no secret agenda against Rigo. His fights are boring and the networks know this. It is what it is. That doesn't mean he isn't a good fighter but he is not going to generate any money for a promoter.

That's not what I was referring to. I was saying that he is still the biggest name in the division, or at least about Santa Cruz level. I don't know how much money did he earn against this Thai fighter (Rigo had a "substantial" minimum purse clause in his contract which included his last fight despite being off the HBO), but I'm pretty sure that despite being "boring" and "not fan-friendly", I guess that he earned more for the Agbeko fight than Quigg for his biggest fight for example, not to mention the Donaire fight where Rigo earned 750k if I'm correct.

With that being said, it's not true that Santa Cruz, Kiko or Quigg would earn some minor money for the Rigo fight, as it would be very likely the biggest purse of their careers. Their biggest concern is the very likely loss waiting for them if they agree to fight Rigo, not the money, ticket sales, etc.

Also, let's wait and see what will happen in Rigo's career next, regarding the promotional situation. If he signs with Golden Boy/Showtime, it's very likely that he will not fall from the spotlight. I wouldn't say that there is absolutely zero good promoters interesting in signing him, I guess that we will have to wait and see.

Rigo says he wants Lomenchenko but that Bi-polar Bob Arum is protecting him like a rat protects a fresh piece of white bread.
I'd like to see these two Olympic gold medallists get it on in the professional ring.
This fight shows you that Arum doesn't know a damn thing about business because if marketed properly by a competent promoter the bout can easily be bigger than any Tim Bradley match up.

The billing could be, Double Gold, squared

Bi-Polar Bob made his millions by Bamboozing ignorant and uneducated immigrants like Pacquiao.

He got Oscar & Mayweather for a minute, but they both realized it upfront and baled. Now both of them are bigger than Bob The Embezzler while Pacquiao is still just a in debt slave. :yep:lol:

All non filipino posters should just stop repeating this "Pac is in debt" crap because there's no truth to it. Pac has more money than all congressmen in the Philippines combined. A lot of people are after him because of politics and the Filipino "crab mentality" cause Filipinos are like that. If you get to the top people will pull you back. Pac and his great great grandchildren could live like a king with his money so if you don't know sh!t just shut it. :hat:hey:yep

Tell that to the US IRS.
Their reply would be something like, "All that's fine and dandy. Now Mr. Pacquiao, where's our $28M + Interest?" :yep

Which is my point people are overhyping Rigo because Donaire was overrated in my book as well, Donaire was in love with his power but limited skillwise. A lot of people think Thurman can beat Floyd, but Floyd would have a field day picking off Thurman's predictable shots. When the opponent seems more impressive than he is, it shocks a lot of people when he loses to a skilled fighter, but it never shocks me because I try to keep things in perspective, and never buy into the hype, just like I'm not buying into Rigo. Kiko Leo Frampton have as good a chance as any of getting through and landing a lucky shot on Rigo's suspect chin.

You sound like a promoter I you are a boxing fan like us the best fight possible now is Rigo vs Santa Cruz stop playing the financial field and put the pressure so all pretenders must step up to the challenge.
