Matthew Hatton was paid £150,000 (excluding the 10% bonus for Alvares failing to make weight) for there fight and he owned the UK TV rights. Rhodes will get more than this.

 

It's a good deal that he deserves. As much as he has pissed about, he has been leapfrogged too many times. Made up he's getting his shot

Well Jose Cotto did stun him but i'm not sure his defence is pretty poor imo. They try say he's not your normal Mexican cos he defends properly but i don't see it at all. I think Rhodes will enjoy success and may hurt him.

 

If he can stand in the pocket and trade with Jamie Moore, out fighting and eventually out punching him, then I see no reason why he couldn't do the same with Alvarez. Rhodes also hits harder than Matthew Hatton ever could.

Alvarez is a talented young fighter but is he leaps and bounds above where Jamie Moore was when Rhodes stopped him?

I don't reckon.

Ofcourse he does!! rhodes could ko alvarez no doubt...if cotto's fat little brother who is a LIGHTWEIGHT can BADLY HURT alvarez then rhodes who is a big lmw with good power can stop him, alvarez defence is kak....rhodes awkward style could give alvarez fits, if rhodes has the stamina and his defence is good he wins this imo.

I can see Ryan getting shafted by the judges which is a dead cert banker, but it's a fantastic opportunity for him as he's got the skill set & especially the mental maturity too win this & win it in style in a perfect & uncorrupt world that is. But he's def in with a shout IMO, great high profile occasion for him & it's what he's always been waiting for & now it's here

 

I think (some) people are basing Alvarez's defence on the Hatton fight, the reason his defence was almost non-existant against Magic Matt is beacuse he new Hatton couldn't hurt him, so no need for an air-tight defence.

If you look at some previous Alvarez fights, his defence is sharper against fighters with some power. I've not seen a lot of Alvarez, but this is what I've noticed.
