Holly is going to win. It will be boring. People will say she just ran but it's a win. The gameplan to beat a clinchy judoka is not complicated AT ALL. Just so happens every single one of Rousey's previous opponents tried to knock her out with power punches SECONDS into the fight. Dont even throw a right hand or in Holly's case a left hand until the third round. Just stick and move. Plus Holly has the kicks to keep the clinchy one off of her.
MMA expert Pat Wyman thinks Holly is going to make Ehonda look bad. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2586188-holly-holm-could-ruin-ronda-rousey-for-mainstream-fans
I hope your right because I would rather a Holm win,,, however, strength is Ronda's game as well. Should hopefully be a good match. Ronda is great but the hype is getting annoying.
I see Ehonda getting body kicked and winded by the 2nd round and Holly starting to pour it on later in the fight. Ehonda doesnt even pace herself correctly for a proper 5 round championship fight.
yeah, Rhonda's stand up doesn't impress me much, she can throw some good knees and punches in the clinch and transition but her overall stand up doesn't impress me much.
I'm pretty excited! I hope Holm puts up a good fight. Where are the Joanna Jedrzejczyk treads though? That's the fighter that I'm really into watching. I feel like she'll never be as popular mainstream though cause she's so "plain jane" looking.
Well she is good but people might be overestimating her. I feel Claudia beat her and Bullet Valentina is coming back to MMA. Bullet Valentina schooled Joanna 3 times in Muay Thai. [yt]O358oTK3I_c[/yt]
Cool! I have a lot to learn about Woman's UFC. I'm just now starting to get into it. I'll go home and watch her vs Claudia and then Bullet too.
I agree. The reasons some knowledgeable fight fans are reluctant to jump on the mainstream hypetrain for this one are because how inexperienced Ronda is in any area that doesnt involve the ground or in any fight that goes beyond the 2 minute mark. She doesnt exactly look coordinated nor defensively sound while on her feet. Her clinch is being way overrated also. Slow neophytes like McMann and Bethe stuffed her hip toss in the clinch. That tells me it isnt exactly lethal. Holly has actually been around MMA longer than Ronda and is by far the most athletic woman Ronda has faced (which isnt saying much considering all the un-mobil beached whales under the UFC women bantamweight umbrella).
excellent point about un-mobil beached whales. Alexis Davis has zero athleticism. Bethe has still never beat anyone ranked in the top 10. Mcmann is 35 years old and by all accounts a part-time mma fighter. Mcmann trains in a small gym in the middle of nowhere and tells her coaches what she wants to do. That might work in wrestling where Mcmann could be considered a expert. But in mma if a fighter is dictating what is being trained something is wrong. Even at the international level of wrestling I dont see Mcmann getting past the 1st round at the world championships if she just trained herself in some gym with no world class coaches or facilitates around her like she does in MMA.
LOL yeah. To be clear, he beached whale part refers to their fighting style not their bodies. IMO almost all the UFC bantamweight women are stiff and slow for their size. Sound harsh? Watch bigger combat sports athletes like Cecilia Braekhus (147 lbs) and Claressa Shields (166 lbs) demonstrate skill, agility, speed and movement on their feet then compare it to 135 lbers McMann, Carmouch, Zingano, Miesha, Ronda etc. There's no stand up skill among these UFC women. They're basically upright rock em sock em freeswingers that dont show skill until they fall into grappling.
