I remember meeting a very bright eyed young man in 1994 , he had everything to live for.. nice smiley face, very jovial and had a group of adoring young females stood around this nicely attired clean living popular kid.. He told me his name was Roshii.. and he spelled it out for me laughing.. we shook hands and i never forgot his face.. He was an Olympic star i later found out and he was to turn pro very highly touted.. I always remembered him.. This was in the old pavilion at the reverse of what was Caesars tennis court area.. Its not there now, and neither is Rhoshii.. Shot dead aged 31 or so, was supposedly walking his young sun in a las vegas street and a single gunshot struck him killing him right there.. I last saw him on Tv being Eliminated from the contender because of his eyesight, and last October when i was at Las Vegas Boxing helping Friday get ready for the Shane Cameron fight he was training quietly under his fathers watchful eye in the corner of the Gym.. He asked Friday if he would sign a poster that he had kept of a fight card that he and Friday had both featured on from 2000 , when Friday lost his unbeaten record against Sergei Lyachovich on the Lennox v Rahman show at Mandalay Bay.. Rhoshii was happy, in good bad or unlucky circumstances , smiley happy go lucky.. Never a bad word and always a smile, Taken for what... RIP Roshii Wells.... A waste , a mother****ing waste..... We just never know... God Bless...
He clearly wasn't in top condition when he participated in the contender, but he gave me the impression of being a very nice guy, maybe too nice to make it in the pro's.He accomplished however something in the Olympics that 99,999 % of all the people can only dream about. RIP Champ
Its a damn shame such a nice person has been lost, especially in front of his child. I will pray for his family.
