Frazier i agree!! once he was in that little tick tock groove throwing const. hooks he was un stoppable
I find rhythm very interesting in boxing (using it now not as you are (momentum), but to mean actual rhytm - or do you mean the same thing). [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKS2-ZvJJu4[/ame] check it out from 2:10 What PBF means by trying to catch a guy off balance is that you wait for the moment that the guy takes a step and throw a punch such as a lead right hand, which a guy can see coming, but because he's taking a step, he's out of balance and can't move away even though he sees it coming. You can't suddenly change direction while you're taking a step, bc you're off balance. Your weight isn't evenly distribudet btw your two feet, but rather one foot is still in the air. This can make a guy look faster than he is, because he lands a punch like a right straight from far out (I mean PBF is obviously crazy fast, but you can look faster than you are) and it's all because you can feel the guy's rhythm and know when he's gonna move and when he's gonna puch. Like Lamps said in the Marquez Barrera fight, Barrera throws his jab at a beat where it isn't natural. Everything has a rhythm, and in particular in sports it's evident. Like a basketball player dribbles at a certain pace and then suddenly explodes with speed (so as to fake his opponent out), but we all kinda "feel" these moments when the guy's gonna explode because we all play it in the same rhythm. But, to use this analogy on Barrera's jab, if Barrera were a ball player, he'd explode sooner or later than it feels natural and is common so you wouldn't expect it. It's real cool and subtle. Sometimes, when you watch boxing you'll see both guys throw their hands at the same time than halfway notice that the other guy picked that moment to throw the punch too so they'll just let their hands fall. That's because they're both in the same rhythm.
Whitaker, when he got into a rhythm it was poetry in motion. It was almost as if he knew what his opponent was going to do next before even they did.
every fighter fights in a ryhthm whether by accident or on purpose. rhythm is timing and timing is everything.
