Everyone bring up Canelo, Chavez or Salvatore Sanchez as being the best Mexican boxer of all time and to a lesser extent JMM, Morales, Barrera.

My question is does Ricardo Lopez have a good case for the greatest Mexican boxer of all time

Lopez doesn't have a good case for being the best Mexican fighter from flyweight and below, let alone the GOAT regardless of division. Canto is greater and so is Estrada.

No. Culturally he is not nearly relevant enough to be in the discussion seriously. He may be the best fighter, though. Different discussion, but even then I'd take Sanchez, Marquez and JCC above him.

If you’re like me & you rank on accomplishment only, then no, no chance. If you gravitate more toward who was better if they could all meet in a ring on their best night, I’ve no doubt he was a greater fighter than someone like Chávez for instance, who is often in the relevant discussion.

Honestly hes not even in the top 10.

    Canto
    Sanchez
    Marquez
    Barrera
    Morales
    Chavez
    Saldivar
    Olivares
    Zarate

Lopez has a perfect record and to be fair he did look very good regarding eye test. But let's be real how many world class stand out fighters weigh 105 pounds ? And Lopez's opposition for the most part was very poor he should've moved up and fought Carbajal & Gonzalez.

I would truly have loved to see him go up against Carbajal and Gonzalez. Absolutely a missed opportunity for boxing fans.

Carbajal claims Lopez swerved him (and Gonzalez, I believe). I'm not sure the truth of the matter, however.

Not goat at all. He tends to be overrated on internet circles when people act like he is the most perfect boxer ever, I think this was more back then when youtube first appeared, now he tends to be forgotten actually, I don´t know...

To me, he is amazing, a incredible boxer with great skills, his balance, the way he puts punches together and the punching technique he posseses are my thing.... I prefer him as a fighter than someone like Olivares or Zarate, but I am not ranking him above those for other reasons...

Skill wise he's as good as it gets,,,but at the105 lb division and a lack of opponents hurts his resume.

He falls short from Top 10 IMO. Great stylist and skills but him staying at 105 for too long, not moving up and fighting the likes of Carbajal or Chiquita hurts him. Although fighting Chiquita Gonzalez might have been hard to make because of the fact that they both shared the same trainer.

I think Marquez has a much better case for being the GOAT Mexican than Lopez does - not only was he fantastically skilled in his own right, but he beat one of the best fighters in history, & arguably more than once.
