Very similar. Finito just had more power in both hands.

I was really angry. Angriest i've been since Mares-Agbenko, which was the angriest i've been since they gave the nod to Derry Matthew over John Simpson :D

OK Garrus, I'd say that Lopez had the more destructive, correct punching ability and he also has the technical edge and he struggled less with movers because of that, but Marquez is the more fluid of the two and a little more concise, although he has to make his punches "clipping" to become so sometimes.

Lopez probably the neater work and the harder puncher (at a guess - hard to know what the overall impression would be if he had taken this more offensive attitude at the lower weight, when he also boxed every bit as technically as Lopez) so i'd give him the nod, but it's so close it doesn't matter.

    Good **** McGrain. :D

I was thinking about this earlier today, I concluded that Lopez threw the more damaging shots and was a little more cerebral with his punch placement, but that Marquez has better punch variety and accuracy.

Would you consider JMM to be the better fighter?

I was so angry too McGrain, and I still am, I don't want to forget it and just get over it cos that's what always happens, Marquez won, that's how I'm going in Barry.

Great post on the combos btw, I want to give credit to Lopez on the strength of his jab too, he did a lot of great punches in bunches work off the jab, and he also was really great at switching u the target in combos whilst keeping it so clean, precise, and devastating. McGrain always says that Lopez had pure power as opposed to him generating power via his technique, and I agree with that, the fact that his generation of power was ridonculous just made it even more tremendous.

Marquez on the other hand should be given credit for being able to pull off immaculate combnation punching under pressure. He either concsiously invited the pressure or had to deal with it through lack of mobility or footwork, whichever is the case is not important here, but what is is that he blasts the **** out of guys with pure power shots in bunches, a lot of the time without a jab in sight to initiate a development, and the nature of his style means that he changes the tide of and sometimes what would seem to be the result of the fight.

Because he was fighting average midgets.

JMM has carried his power from 126 to 135. Marquez is Finito with balls. Both aesthetically perfect mind you.

Yes. I think that Lopez is the better package overall physically with a slight edge technically, but Lopez was easy to rattle (in-spite of all that "steely-eyed-missile-man" patter Pacheco and those other goons used to lay on him) where as Marquez is a machine.
