Ricardo Lopez liked to stay in the pocket, and for all of his postitives, was not a great defensive artist. Rosendo Alvarez really gave him a hard fight, and Carbajal is bigger, and had dynamite in both of his hands. At Light Flyweight, I would not rule out a knockout for Little Hands of stone, who had the handspeed and ameater pedigree to acquit himself well in a Boxing match. If he lands with his big left hand, then Lopez has never tasted power like it before...and never fought anyone as good as Carbajal. Hell, I'll go with a Carbajal stoppage. Lopez fought a lot of low level fighters at Minimumweight, whereas Carbajal fought practically everyone relevant at Light Fly, including Humberto Gonzalez.
Finito Lopez was textbook boxer and a joy to watch but I always felt had he moved up he would have met his match in Carbajal. IMO he was too big and hit too hard and would have eventually got to Finito.
We agree for once. Lopez is overstated on this forum because his undefeated record shines very brightly. Look at his level of opposition. Carbajal fought a lot of good fighters in his division, and the only one to really get the best of him was Humberto Gonzalez, another fighter who would have caused havoc for Lopez.
Finally!:good But we disagree once again. Finito Lopez isn't overrated if anything he's underrated. He was one of the best text book boxers Ive ever seen and fought at a weight that didn't garner the appreciation of boxing fans. He's a great H2H fighter at any weight.
:verysad I see a lot of people rating him in the top 60 of all time. He's barely top 100 material. He's overstated, Pimp C. Ricardo Lopez's looked like gold against C level opposition, but once he fought someone capable, like Rosendo Alaverez, he didn't appear so fluid.
Its easy to look good when youre a rabbit facing a bunch of turtles. How do you see a fight between him and Jung Koo Chang going?
...The greatest Minimumweight fighting the greatest Light Flyweight of all time? It'd be a mismatch in my estimation, Chang would be all over him like a rash. No time, no space to demonstrate Lopez's silky smooth offensive skills.
Just wanted to let it be known that Marquez is a bad mutha****er. WHen i think of Lopez, Marquez always comes to mind. Marquez is a bad bad mutha****in man.
Same trainers, same stance, they both throw beautifully straight punches. I can see the comparison, but he could have at least addressed the thread question. No problem. Oh sorry dude, didn't realize you were the thread starter. Ignore me.
