To be fair to UFC, ambassadors of both sports have said assinine things. Sure, Dana White is the King of idiotic statements. But what Bob Arum said only a few weeks ago ranks right up there. For those of you who missed it, he said that UFC fighters roll around on the matt like homosexuals. He even accused their fans of being skinheads and Nazis. Really, that old man needs to be checked for Alzheimer's.

I too was a fan of the UFC when it first started. I liked to watch fighters from different backgrounds square off. That was interesting. But when MMA became all about grappling, I quickly lost interest. I mean, I respect the skill that these men bring to the table, but I have absolutely no desire to watch it. And when I do tune in to free replays on F/X, well, I don't recall the audience getting on their feet and cheering when a guy wins a fight with a ankle lock.

This is great news but I hope Mayorga is getting good and varied training. Promoters have tended to take advantage of him

First of all, suck it. Being a newbie only refers to the amount of time I have been a member to this site, not a reflection of my boxing knowledge you dumb mother ****er.

Second...Ray Mercer, an over the hill heavyweight, knocked the **** out of Tim Silvia in 9 seconds with one punch. You dont think Mayorga can do the same to a lightweight in MMA?????? He would knock BJ Penns ****in head off if he was able to land a clean one.

Yeah if. And even then BJ Penn has a granite chin.

But anyway, being honest if they match up Mayorga well (i.e strikers with no ground game who won't think about taking it to the ground) he could make a little bit of noise and possibly some money. I bet Strikeforce would sign him if he gets a few wins.
