Prime vs. Prime here. Who wins between Mayorga and Quartey? Both of these fighters love to punch.

Just remember that Ricardo Mayorga was never knocked down until his fight with Felix "Tito" Trinidad.

Ike Quartey was undefeated for almost 5 years.

Total domination by Quartey, most likely a KO victory in the late rounds. Were you the one who voted for Mayorga? Mayorga's biggest strength (his power) doesn't even matter in this matchup because of Quartey's great chin. Ike would be able win this fight with his jab alone. His boxing skills are on a whole different level, plus he has the power to affect Mayorga and keep him more tentative than he was against a fighter like Forrest.

Prime for prime, or right now if he's 80% of what he was in the Forrest match I would take Ike.

I've never seen what was so great about Ike's power OR his chin.

    I choose Mayorga TKO8.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "great" for his chin, but his chin + defense was more than good enough to deal with Mayorga's wild haymakers.

a PRIME mayorga? a PRIME mayorga outworks ike if he can get through the jab, which imo, a prime mayorga does... and he will simply win the beginning rounds, ike will take the middle, and mayorga would close the show by winning the 11th and 12th and winning a decision. Neather fighter imo gets seriously hurt and i cant believe people would pick ike to stop mayorga. but hey thats boxing i guess.

Mayorga at 147 was actually quite good. Great chin, good stamina, speed, and power. I see Mayorga landing a few temple shots and scoring flash knockdowns on Ike to get some 2 point rounds and winning a decision.

Mayorga would win. I always thought Ike was a one handed fighter like Razor Rudduck. What is so great about Mayorga? What he beat Forrest, but then he loses to feather handed Spinks. A good boxer would beat Mayorga everytime. Forrest is a good boxer, but he fought Mayorga's fight.

The first time he fought mayorgas fight - got knocked out
Second fight he tried moving and boxing - and lost a decision

Spinks beat mayorga... ooook.. spinks is one of the BEST pure boxers out there, a southpaw, and had to fall the the floor and ILLEGALY bend below the waist every other second to get a decision that wouldnt have been his without point deductions.

Ike IS a good boxer, and is world class.... and he would lose to mayorga.

Ike in his prime had the best jab in boxing. I cant see how Mayorga would win this Ike was a great fighter in his prime, and would probably give Mayorga a boxing lesson.

Agreed. Unbelievable how close this poll is, Quartey was superb in his prime.

Yes, because Ike was a black guy with a good jab, and Mayorga already beat one of those, so he automatically beats Ike.

I'm not comparing Ike with Forrest at all. I just don't think Quartey has the power OR the chin to really deal with Mayorga, and top that off with the fact that Quartey's pretty flat-footed, and was often suckered into brawls. With Mayorga's rabid pressure there would be many instances where I think Quartey will inevitably get caught in a slugout. I could even see Quartey being dropped once or twice before getting stopped, as well.
