i can't tell if ike would dominate, perhaps this would be a close fight with the scores same as the mayorga-spinks fight(not comparing ike to spinks)

Quartey fairly easy decision, if not stoppage.

IKE is not SPINKS... they are two totally differant fighters with NOTHING alike.

    Ike fades in fights
    Ike likes to trade punches
    Ike can be hurt
    Ike can be outworked

Mayorga imo, WOULD outwork him, WOULD outhustle him, would win in exchances, and would take the championship rounds

    imo

I can see ike controlling mayorga in some rounds with his jab, but imo, mayorga will just outwork, outhustle, and win a close fight, ike imo wouldnt win in exchanges, and he doesnt really BOX behind that jab, he fights behind that jab... which i like, but will work against him this fight imo.

You guys underrate Ike to an absurd degree, or overrate the one-dimensional brawler Mayorga. Ike doesn't have the power? At one point he was known as one of the hardest punchers in the WW division, and most certainly one of the most accurate, with one of the best jabs. A prime Ike was a great counter-puncher, relying on the opponent to unload, while opening up, to get it his crisp counters, and he'd have a field day with someone like Mayorga. Unbelievable how you people underrate this guy. Watch some prime Ike, and tell me what you said is true.

You're sitting here looking at a single exchange in the Oscar fight against the ropes to make your judgements of Ike I'm assuming. In reality, he was trading to show the ref that he wasn't hurt, because if he relied on covering up while Oscar was teeing off the fight would've been stopped. Watch Ike in the fight I posted or in many of his other earlier title fights, and you'll see how much of a calm, collected, crisp counter-puncher he was, how excellent his defense was, and how accurate a puncher he was. He'd have some trouble with Mayorga's relentlessness, but no question he'd outland him and hit him with the harder, cleaner shots. Ike was better than any version of Vernon Forrest as well, who seems to be getting quite overrated on here.

Just go to youtube and watch his entire fight with Jung-Oh Park.

Also, here's some more Ike, though the Park fight supports my theory just as well or more regarding Ike under fire and how calm and collected he was.

Have many of you forgotten how good Ike was?

Ike takes this no question about it.

What did I say that wasn't true? All's I said was his power wasn't that great, which it isn't. Not saying he doesn't have ANY power, but I certainly don't think it's as great as you and some others claim. I'd rate Quartey's power about neck at neck with Forrest's, and that's about the only comparison I'll make between the two.

Ike was good in his time, I just feel the stylistic strengths and weaknesses work in Mayorga's favor a bit more.

Ike was a beast in his prime and there is a reason Oscar ducked him for a bit.
as for his chin, ANYONE can be dropped by Lopez as he was a murderous puncher. Ike obliterated Vince Phillips with right hands.

Look how close Ike came to beating a prime time Oscar and he is going to have problems with Mayorga?

Mayorga's punch is even greater than Lopez', imo. Ike was also hurt by DLH, Vargas, and Forrest as well.

By this logic Mayorga shouldn't have had a problem with Oscar seeing as..

    ..Mayorga beat Forrest who..

    ..beat Mosley who..

    ..beat DLH.

I have the mind that they were at least the same level of punching power(Lopez and Mayorga)

As for the prime Oscar example, my logic is that Ike beat in many peoples minds a hard hitting, fast and versatile HOF fighter in his prime in Oscar.

Mayorga i feel, would not be able to adapt to Ike's vicious jab and very underated straight right hand. Mayorga was strong yes, but Ike was just as if not stronger. sorry, have flu and i hope i am making sense i just feel ike is severly underated her
