--------------------------------------------------- It was reported by ***********'s Keith Idec in today's Herald News, that Kendall Holt (23-2, 12 KOs) will finally get his chance for revenge when he meets WBO junior welterweight champion Ricardo Torres (32-1, 28 KOs) on July 5 in the main event of Showtime televised card from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The two previously fought in Torres' backyard of Barranquilla, Colombia on September 1, the fight was full of fouls, rowdy fans throwing objects into the ring, puddles of liquid on the ring mat, knockdown calls that were never made and a ref who was overwhelmed by the atmosphere. Going into the eleventh round, Holt was winning the fight on two of the three official scorecards. During the eleventh, Holt was hurt by a left hook as fans went wild and hurled objects into the ring. The ref did not call for time while both fighters were unsteady due the wet surface and would later stop the fight as Holt was in the process of throwing a punch, giving Torres the TKO win. Despite multiple protests by the Holt camp, the Torres win was upheld. Holt would sign a promotional agreement with Top Rank, who also promote Torres, to increase his chances of landing the rematch. The issue will finally be settled. "There's not going to be a lot of waiting in this fight," said Holt, who expects to sign his contract today. "I'm going to take it to him this time and get him out of there. I'm going to whip his (butt). The (outcome of) the first fight was my fault. My boxing ability is so much better than his, I thought about taking the easy way out (by winning a decision). I won't do that again." --------------------------------------------------- I really hate that this fight is in Vegas, since they'll have to use 10 ounce gloves instead of 8.
I have been looking forwrd to this rematch. This would be a great undercard to a major fight or a co-main event with another B+ fight.
