Two of the best punchers at 140lbs in recent times. I personally feel Torres would win just feel his punches would land first and he straighter puncher of the two and would land on Maidana and take him out in round 2-3 in a gun-slinging battle. Who would of Won? I've gone for Straight KO/TKO Poll. I cannot see this fight going points. If you do then just post reasons why!. For the guys who haven't seen Torres. It could really go either way. Both can crack, and both can be hurt. If forced to choose on a given night, I'd go with Torres (but my nerves would be racked right up until the opening bell). Great match-up.
Ah I miss Ricardo Torres. Still deserves another fight with Kendall Holt. I'd pick Maidana on the basis that he's hardly been beaten (was unlucky with the decision against Kotelnik and pushed Khan as close as possible)
Indeed a fantastic match up...Torres a few years ago would win but now I think Maidana would be too strong.
I'd probably go for Maidana. He's pretty durable upstairs, certainly. Not sure I could say the same for Torres.
Eh, bout the same. They've been stunned and/or dropped by about the same level of puncher, really (Holt, Arnaoutis, Cotto @ 140 aren't all that different a class than Ortiz, Corley, and Khan @ 140).
addendum: that's strictly in terms of punch, just to be clear. :yep Maidana's threesome are clearly a higher class than Arnaoutis and Holt in terms of overall ability.
I seem to remember the Holt KO of Torres being controversial, if I remember rightly it was his knee that knocked him out? Can't really say that from the above video though...
I was more than a head clash though. Holts head caught him bang on the chin and it basically sparked him before the right hand even landed. Torres was in a mess afterwards.
I think Maidana would win as he has shown he can bounce back from heavy knockdowns. Would be a bit of a mini Lyle v Foreman I fancy.
It was a headclash though??? even if it basically affected result..it wasn't a headbutt....nothing intentional from Holt. It was a freak accident. Obviously it was a crying shame cos really and truly Holt was on way out of fight..but got lucky. I know that Holt sparked him with the head and then finished off a sitting duck.
