I was reading a Ring magazine I had from a few years back, and saw an article on Ricardo Williams Jr. I forgot all about him. He spent almost 3 years in prison for a cocaine charge. This guy is really talented but I remember him having awful training habits. Always looked too fat for a 5'6 welterweight. He's making a comeback. I hope he stays focused, cuz I'm rooting for him. Any thoughts?
I remember when he turned pro alot of buzz about him. outstanding amature he got something like a 1 million $ contract of lou dibella, he then lost all his hunger went fat! and didnt want to train, even manny steward couldnt do nothing with him, so the story goes manny moved him in his house, but williams was still eating like a pig, behind manny's back. Waste of talent he was! and also franscio bojado who was also in the 2000 games for mexico was another waste of talent who like food get in the way of titles
was in one best amateur fights i ever seen in the 2000 olympics against a cuban lad diolugnes(sry bout spelling lol) 44-43!exciting stuff!
he has had a cpl fights since being released from prison against nobodies. he hasnt had a fight since march. you would think he would be more active after losing three yrs, i think he is still lasy aint training and thats why the inactivity. but i would like to see him take the game more serious, he defintly has some skill, i used to see him in tournaments in ohio when i was younger. exciting fighter to watch
maybe the amatures burnt him out didnt he have like 250 fights? that can happen to alot of fighters! once you go into the ten year 200 fight amature career there is a good chance your gonna leave everything in the amature's thats including your hunger to be the best
having been around him a little in a training camp its safe to say his attitude isn't what it should be and any promoter that invests in him is taking a huge risk.
