Interesting fight. Franklin barely kept away from Wanderlei in their first encounter. This should be a great crossroads fight.

 

I'd rather he face old Rich than get eaten up by some younger guy who is looking to put a legend's name on his record. At least with Franklin it's a bit of a throwback fight, and the crowd will see two historically-significant guys in the cage.

Certainly not a very good PPV headline fight, but a reasonable substitution given the circumstances. Was looking forward to Rich vs Cung Le though, oh well. :conf

At least its a competative fight between to past it fighters.....their 1st fight was no barnburner but it was close......like someone else said at least an up n comer is not going in there to feed off their names.

 

Seems like I'm the only one who likes this fight. Both guys will come to fight in what could be a thriller.

The first fight was entertaining, and close, but a second match isn't really necessary.

 

Honestly, I prefer this over Wanderlei vs Belfort. I had Belfort blasting him out in the first. At least we have more of a chance for this fight to be competitive.

 

WTF people, you're all becoming a bunch of trading card fans who only want to watch fights that talking heads tell you are "relevant" or "might lead to a title shot" or some ****. You're supposed to want to see good fights, remember? Their first fight was close and these are both two exciting fighters who are a bit past it (Franklin) and way past it (Silva) but who will put on a good show. I'm sure as hell not going to pay for it, but some of you sound like you can't be put out to watch a good fight if neither guy is ever going to hold some ****ing belt at some point.

 

Agreed. I have no problems with this fight as a contest. I like both guys, I think both have a realistic chance to win, and I think it'll be a war that ends in a stoppage. :good

But it's not a PPV headline fight. Not in 2012 anyway. That's where the problem is. Sure, every so often a card just falls apart due to injuries or other bad fortune, and this is one of those cards. Wandy vs Franklin in 2012 is a solid PPV undercard fight, but a bad headliner.

Not only that, but Rich's absence makes the already-thin undercard worse. Some cards just don't turn out the way everyone wants, and this is one of them. **** happens eh. :good
