Not all Cubans are ugly. (meaning in terms of style) Lara is unfairly labeled boring. He can be quite exciting. There is simply no comparing what Lara does, or what prime JC Gomez did, or what Gamboa does, with the repugnant **** that Abril does. I don't understand how even his own countrymen aren't disgusted by him giving the rest a bad name. Hell, there are some stupid-ass Mexicans who hate & disown Molina for his Kirkland performance and for being technical (but NOT ugly :nono) even before that.
I'm not Cuban , I'm from South Polinesia , a little island in the South Pacific , but I wish I was , ! Cubans are the best boxers in the world ! . Peace .
Abril's style is "repugnant" because he actually boxed overweight, one-dimensional slob Rios and beat him 119-109? I think what's really "repugnant" is that Rios was gift-wrapped a decision and came in heavy (again). :-(
i totally agree when fans think of Mexicans they have a stereotypical view of prime mab and morales, but u cant judge fighter for the country they come from meaning molina is being dishoned by being "tecnical" and not nearly as repulsive as abril. and remeber marquez used to be boring fighter
It was a total robbery and Brandon Rios should be ashamed of both his performance and his weight issues. ...but that is neither here nor there. This conversation isn't about Rios. Nor is it about Abril vs. Rios specifically. It is about Abril in general...and in general (not just against Rios, but against Prescott, Munguia, Lundy, Acosta, and probably every single opponent as a pro) his style stinks.
Everyone is labeling Abril as the most boring fighter in boxing based off the Rios fight. He has other fights too people. There isn't much of him on Youtube but Miguel Acosta fight highlights are on youtube and i don't think he fought that way. He had to take care of business against Rios and he did what he had to do, and did it he did:yep
Personally, I never found Marquez boring. :good He did become more fan-friendly, though. Technical is good. @ these nationalistic nuthuggers who either don't get or won't admit that they get the MAJOR difference between technical and/or slick boxing and the crap Abril pulls. atsch
year maybe i am getting nightmares of the norwood fight, and use to be more of counter puncher. but his pacquio trilogy and two fights with diaz were brilliant
Side note i don't really care for abrils or follow his career and never did. If i catch his fights great if not its not like im going to lose sleep over him
No, the label ISN'T from that one fight. Yes, he has other fights...and they're all like that. It wasn't just him TCOB against Rios as an isolated incident. Don't even bring up Acosta, because you haven't even seen that fight in its entirety. It is maybe the worst fight I've ever watched on the internet. That gives Abril two unflattering distinctions: Worst, ugliest fight I've ever seen online (Abril vs. Acosta) Worst, ugliest fight I've ever seen in person (Lundy vs. Abril) - and I've been ringside for ****ing Bika. atsch
Marquez at peak brilliance: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411528 :good Highly technical. Maybe "boring" to some idiots. NOTHING at all like what Abril does.
I see you defending Molina in the post Mamerto quoated. HELL NO, molina is a ****ing disgrace. He's as boring as they ****ing come. Richard Abril > Carlos Molina. Abril landed clean punches when he created distance against Rios, Molina is content with having his head in your chest the entire fight.
