Interesting to see how Linares deals with a skilled boxer.

    "Upset"?

My how fickle boxing fans are.

Linares was at one time seen as the sport's future.

Granted, he did hit quite a long rocky patch since then...but for him to be viewed as needing to spring an "upset" on a guy who lost clearly to guys like Prescott and Lundy but found himself suddenly deemed elite for merely having schooled the easily-schooled Rios...that's quite a leap.

Linares will be in danger against punchers for his entire career. (see: KTFO by JC Salgado, Tony D, and Cocaine Thompson - and pretty badly hurt late on by Rocky "Stuck Forever In First Gear" Juarez)

Aside from those four the biggest puncher he ever faced was a shot to bits Larios.

So the weak chin is the curse holding Linares back from ever fulfilling his "Golden Boy" potential - not a lack of boxing skill & talent.

You'll be hard pressed to find many guys in his weight range who could outbox him if his getting stunned by any half decent blow wasn't an issue. Abril can not crack an egg.

    Upset. Laughable.

Let me flip that on you:

Interesting to see how Abril deals with a skilled boxer.

Yes, he looked fantastic against the neanderthal Rios.

Acosta was ruined by late 2011. He peaked from 2007-2010 and looked prodigious. He fought stupidly against Rios, electing to get macho rather than box, and it decimated him. In those last three losses he was barely a shell of his former self. Reflexes, timing, speed, and balance - all gone.

Bogere isn't quite as basic as Rios but he's no technician either.

Take a quick scan through Abril's resume and tell me when he ever really faced a very skilled boxer. All the best he ever faced were overly aggressive guys tailor made for him stylistically, and the empty husk of Aguacerito.

Lundy is a decent boxer, and beat him fair and square. (I was there)

Nope, as far as I know, the only meaning for Yeyo anywhere in the Hispanic world is as slang for coke.

It's among my favorite boxing nicks.

I guess it's supposed to be due to having a manic, high-energy, feel-no-pain style? :conf

I think this will be a close one and i see Linares snatching the belt. They are as skilled, imo anyways, but Linares has the advantages in speed, power and experience.
