Richard Commey vs Teofimo Lopez

This won't be a test of Teo's skill so much as his will. Commey is a different kind of challenge for him that could either wind up being a showcase fight (he will land plenty of clean counters) or blow up in his face if his durability and conditioning isn't up to snuff. It's an interesting fight and a good litmus test for the young gun.

Commey's a tough, rugged mofo and is no pushover.

 

Teomofo has the IQ to beat Commey cleanly if he wants. If he chooses to slug it out with Richy he is gonna have a tough few rounds before Commey gasses if he doesn't get KO'd in between blows.

 

I think Lopez gets him out of there. Lopez power and speed would give Commey big problems.

 

Lopez by TKO. Commey is tailor-made for guys like Lopez who are gifted with speed, power and reflexes. But Loma and Haney would beat Lopez easily, because their main assets are their skills and boxing IQ, What happens when extremely gifted fighter meets one not so gifted phisycally but with great skills and IQ? See Barrera vs Hamed, but take into account that Lopez is nowhere near as talented as Hamed was.

Great fight, I think Teo has to go to hell and back to do it but would do enough to take it on points after a war of attrition, Commey is no pushover and is as tough as they come.

 

Good test for Teofimo.Wont be a walk in the park.

 

Commey, although a tad better than he was when he fought Easter, is still much too crude in skill to have much of a chance against Lopez. Sure he has power, but his footwork and technique are so damn poor. Lopez is going to have a field day with him.

 

Perfect fight to legitimise Lopez and set up the Loma mega fight.

He'll have a belt by beating a credible champion.

if all goes to Arums plan, it'll be perfect matchmaking.

Even if Commey wins, it still a solid fight for Loma as Commey has all that experience behind him and the belt too.

 

Loma would have an absolute field day against a guy with footwork, and technique as poor as Commey's.

 

Perhaps, but Commey could still easily claim to be the second best LW if he beats Lopez.

Also, while clearly Loma is the superior technician, Commey would be huge in the ring in comparison to Loma. Commey looks like a guy who could fight as high as WW, whereas Loma could still make 130.
