Yes and no. He has talent and has developed some nice ring craft. But! He lacks experience. In his last fight he kept trying to do the same few things over and over. He kinda got stuck. He wasn't able to adapt and change the gameplan. Rooting for Commey here. But it will be a fantastic scrap.
I don't like either and for the most part couldn't care who wins But I'd rather see Teo vs Loma than Commey
Teo isn't disciplined enough to box and play keep away for 12 rounds, and I don't think he wins a shoot out with Commey. I think Commey is one of those gunslingers that you'd have to put through the mat to beat him that way and I don't think anyone at the weight does that. Outbox Commey, yea. Beat him into submission? The jury is still out on that. Commey tko 7
Comney probably takes this one. Fimo has been blowing up smaller guys but as we saw against the Jap...Comney is going to be a huge problem. He doesn't have the skills or intelligence to deal with this challenge. Comney swells up pretty easily. That could haunt him. Also, after the recent deaths in boxing all these referee's will jump in and call a fight as soon as the first punch stuns a boxer. I could see a soft-serve b.s. stoppage because Comney's knee's were buckled and they're protecting the star attraction. Otherwise...this has Comney written all over it.
Interesting tilt. While not robotic per say, Commey is not exactly the most fluid athlete either. Nevertheless he punches hard and will certainly come to win, a combination of attributes Lopez has yet to experience as a professional. Indeed this will be the first time the brash Honduran-American will have to be mindful of very heavy artillery coming his way. If Lopez gets sucked into a firefight, he might very well taste the canvas and even get stopped. If--and this is a big if--he exhibits enough ring IQ to use his feet and hand speed to engage on his terms, I think he outboxes Commey and earns (perhaps with a knockdown on the way) a highly competitive decision victory./late stoppage.
I don't think Commey is really that special in term of skill, but he has good enough balance and fundemental to make him a formiddable fighter. And his power shot is a killer. If Lopez trades punches with Commey instead of outsmart or outbox him, he'll definitely lose.
Teo will have to fight cautiously to have any chance. I don’t think he has the discipline or control of range to make it happen. He’s a very good athlete but he really isn’t much as a boxer. I expect him to get dropped and make it through twelve to lose a decision, probably to retire afterwards. I might still be being too generous to him considering his lack of skill and IQ.
I get that Commey isn’t the best boxer but what makes you think that Teo has the capability to outbox anyone on the world level? He is an athletic poser, not a boxer. His shoulder roll is ridiculous, Tatli and the Jap guy landing with ease is one thing but that’s going to get him knocked out against Commey. He can’t judge distance, he has nothing to his game. He is an okay counter puncher and has some spring in his step, but he has literally nothing else as a boxer.
Commey needs to fight coming forward to win. If he's getting swarmed/pushed back/fighting off the backfoot he loses essentially all of his power and he's not very comfortable. Teo is short, stocky, and quick enough to pressure Commey and do just that, I just don't know if he has the discipline, focus, and skill to maintain it. If Lopez is intimidated, he gets wiped down and early. Give Commey ANY respect and you are done. If Lopez goes in there like a possessed Mexican and pressures Commey, he is gifted, explosive, and powerful enough to hang one on Commey, maybe early. The Japanese guy he just fought is much more skilled than Commey and keeps distance WAY better. Whatever the outcome, someone is getting sparked out I think.
Perhaps you and I have a different definition of "outbox." I believe Lopez can use his hand speed and athleticism to get off first and get out of the way if he elects to fight intelligently and not look to load up with one shot. Consequently, he'd win on the cards in that scenario (ie "outbox" Commey to a points win). I didn't suggest or intimate he'd put on a Floyd master class, did I? Commey is rather upright, is not particularly elusive, and is not multi-dimensional on the "fly." That said, I also noted that Lopez would have to be careful not to get drawn into a firefight. Would I be shocked if Commey stopped the kid? No. Likewise, I wouldn't be shocked if Lopez earns a points victory (I won't say "outbox" or you might get your knickers in a bunch again).
What on earth makes you think that ‘my knickers were in a bunch’? Because I questioned what you said? Don’t be so sensitive.
From what I've seen shoulder roll style is not easy to be implemented. One need to know very well its strengths and its weaknesses, especially the defensive aspect. Floyd can do this style perfectly because he really masters the range and everything about it. He knows all the distances and timing precisely, whether to counter or to break out from opponent's encirclement. This style is also his way to set the mind games and laying traps. Other than FMJ himself, I haven't seen anyone who can do this style as close to the half effectiveness he shown.
