Rare good post , though I will say that looked like ****. But I think the broken nose played a big role, also his gas tank is suspect af.

Yeah I agree, It was a really poor fight, I blame the referee to a large extent for that because if he took points for holding early enough then we might have seen cleaner action.

But it was scrappy, not very entertaining, a couple of questionable decisions, I think we can all agree these two and especially Riakporhe are not going to bother any fighter above domestic level.

Yeah, look the scoring, I suppose with a knockdown scored and if you liked what Riakporhe did then giving it to him by a point or two isn't unreasonable, it certainly isn't a robbery.

But I do have a problem with this Matchroom now standard 117-111 score, we see this score so many times in Matchroom fights, normally close fights, there is always one card that goes large for the Matchroom/home fighter.

It looks really bad and looks really bad for British boxing, I can't have a problem with other countries siding with home fighters while my country seem to do it weekly/monthly.

I don't know what a better system would be, I don't know how we sort out scoring to make it fairer and less open for perceived corruption but as a sport we might need to start looking at it.

Maybe Judges having to fill out reports after the fight, why they scored a round the way they did, I'm not talking essays, just a few words, and then open those reports to public viewing, it's basic but we need something standard so they can do it all over the world at any size show or event.

Something like that would at least put some pressure on them, they would have to explain their decisions, because right now they can score any way they like and there really is no accountability.

I have thought before about in really big fights have Judges wear cameras and then after fights uploading them to the internet for boxing fans to watch.

Could be beneficial for judges and fight fans, we would get the view of the judges and it might explain to many people the angle the judges get to view a fight from. what they actually see, like referees in their view and how they score.

Anyway, something needs to change, we need more clarity.

I think it literally comes down to that. If he can deal with height and figure him out it will be a comfortable points win for Richards. Personally I think he’s smart enough to work him out but will need to step it up a gear against him.

It's a pity that the fight topping the bill last night was such a clinchfest, because there were three very decent contests before it.

Luther Clay looked the better boxer from the start, but Kiwitt was never out of the fight. Clay doesn't seem to have great power, but he was able to get inside and strike the body to good effect. Also came across as a very likeable guy in the interview. Would like to see him again against some of the promising uk level fighters.

Sugden gave a very good account of himself considering he had one weeks notice. Spider him round the ring relying on landing a big shot again, but sugden was hard as nails and I thought the draw was fair enough.

Conway always the sharper boxer but o'brian was brave enough to force the action and with both guys staying in the pocket and countering it was a good, if gruelling watch. Respect to them both.

Decent night with just those dodgy cards protecting the lamentable money fighter team taking the gloss of it.

Just watching this and Massey is truly dire. Doesn’t throw his punches correctly and has no power.

Too much holding and hugging for me from both men too.

Riakporhe was just slightly better than a very poor fighter in Massey

It was funny when Macklin said that the holding was ''six of one, half a dozen of the other'' then when every subsequent clinch during the rest of the round and IIRC the round after that had been initiated by Riakporhe he realized he had to call him out on it.

Even Dean Whyte ie. the brother of Riakporhe's manager admitted he was surprised the ref didn't deduct a point off his boy for the holding.

FTR, I don't and never have disliked Riakporhe as a person. He seems like an OK guy but I just don't think he deserved to win his last two fights and both the KDs in them were bogus and he was allowed by the ref in both instances to hold like an octopus all night.

Very clearly biased spin-doctoring. Riakporhe was by no means "slightly better". He deserved to lose, and even more so when you consider the knockdown round was a multiple-point swing in his favor (became 10-8 with the bogus KD, minus the point deducted from Riakporhe by the ref - but should have been a 10-8 round for Massey).

Massey doesn't throw his punches correctly? ...and Riakporhe does, IYO? :dunno

And the hugging was not even close to equivocal on both sides. It was at least 80% RR.

No, even though it was Matchroom. Being on Matchroom doesn't guarantee a fight is on DAZN, although 95% of times it does mean that.

It does, however, guarantee it being on Sky Sports Action in the UK. ;)

    Round 1 Riakporhe 10-9

A nothing feel out round, RR nicked it on activity.

    Round 1 Riakporhe 10-9
    Round 2 Massey 10-9

RR gets a nasty right through, but that just pisses Jack off, who responds with about 4 of his own.

    Round 1 Riakporhe 10-9
    Round 2 Massey 10-9
    Round 3 Riakporhe 10-9

Jack again, outworking him early, but then Richard comes back and nails him with two horrendous straight rights, rocking him, but he oddly enough, took it well.

Reactpoor is holding like a mofo already, Massey roughing him up and working his body.

    Round 1 Riakporhe 10-9
    Round 2 Massey 10-9
    Round 3 Riakporhe 10-9
    Round 4 Massey 10-9
    Round 5 Massey 10-9

Neither man looked great, both holding a lot, but Massey outworked him to the body again.
