I agree. I'd rather have paid for some of Crolla's recent free fights than any of Joshua's ones we've been charged for.

 

He is right but I don't know why you are mentioning AJ. AJ is the premium product!!!

His numbers suggest the opponent is irrelevant as AJ will draw regardless. I know people don’t want to hear that or hope his PPV’s flop but the reality is the kid is just pure box office.

Every promoter in world boxing would have AJ on PPV!!!

Fans are not being robbed as fans don't have to buy it. Its a simple decision to make, if you feel its value for money buy the PPV. If not don't but it.

You cant argue with the numbers, people will pay to watch AJ KO someone.

 

I agree he is box office, but most other promoters wouldn't have the audacity to put him on ppv when he is up against complete and utter tomato grade level bums.

 

They wouldn't be leaving money on the table. You think any broadcaster or promoter with a boxer who does 400k PPV's guaranteed would gladly not take advantage of that. Not a chance.

 

Considering that Sky/Hearn break even at around 150k PPV buys it's reasonable (if annoying) that Joshua is always on PPV.

The more interesting discussion is why there hasn't been another fighter regularly on PPV on Sky recently- if Joshua is defeated/gets injured who would step up to the plate?

 

We would probably just get more WWE style PPVs like Haye vs Bellew.

Press conferences could be arranged where fighters hit each other with steel chairs, pour beer over each other etc..

100% before. I'm not hard to please, I don't need so called stars and flashyness to exite me. I just like competitive fights and everybody knew Crolla's fights against the likes of Barroso and Linares were going to be a hell of a lot closer than all of AJ's put together.

Shame the way boxing works. AJ is 17 st plus so earns probably 10x more vs shi.t.e than 9st 9 Crolla has in real fights. I know it's just the way it is obviously.

 

Anthony Joshua fans are not being robbed, that much is true. If people want to pay £17 to see him knock over Molina, then yes fine.

What about the fans who wanted to see Whyte, Chisora, Buglioni, Yafai, Quigg, Smith etc? Their purses could be covered under normal Sky shows. But instead we're forced to pay to see them because we now have a 'PPV Star' in Josh.

 

Exactly mate. Same as me and 'Price is back' have to buy Eubank if we want to watch Price. Don't think anyone else cares like haha.

People will say that AJ had a great undercard but most people were moaning saying it was going to be shite and that Hearn got lucky afterwards when it turned out good.

 

im not so sure. do the fighters on the undercard get paid more in a ppv fight than if it was normal sky? i dont actually know how the undercard payments work

 

From what Hearn says the fighters at the top have the show budget and then they work with the promoter on putting the undercard together? The more expensive the undercard the less it is for them.
