IBF welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter vs Mayweather.

WASHINGTON — Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said "the sky is the limit" for IBF welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter in the wake of Saturday's fourth-round technical knockout of Paulie Malignaggi, adding that he "would love to see" Porter face RING number one-rated pound-for-pound fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the future.

Another ''Young & Hungry Champion'' for Mayweather jr to hype up again. :deal

His team knows when to fight these ''Champions''......... Porter has been exposed in the past.

Mayweather will have a size advantage against Shawn Porter, who isn't that great just because he stopped a PAST HIS PRIME Malignaggi.

I hope they don't make this fight and look to further extend Porter's career with other big fights rather than cashing him out in one.

it is a shame that fights cannot be made like in the fab 4 era. Are you aware that Hearns,Duran Leonard,Benitez, all fought each other within 4 years. Elite fighters fighting each other. It was not hard to make the fights. Ray and Benitez fight Nov. 1979, Ray fights Duran June and Nov. 1980, Hearns fights Ray Sept 1981, Duran fights Benitez, Jan .1982 Hearns fights Benitez Dec 1982 and Hearns fights Duran June of 1984. 7 fights in just 4 years. if you add in Hagler, 10 fights in 7 years, add Cueves in there and 12 fights made in 7 years, Cuevas fighting Hearns and Duran in 1980 and 1983.

That is promoting the big fights for the fans..making the fights. Imagine if we would not have had those fights at that time, the fab 4 era would not be as great. My point? The promoters are hurting boxing by not making fights. Who cares if promoters don't like each other. That is their problem. We want the fights as fans. It is about boxing and not them and their money.. If elites of 30 years ago could fight all the greats, why can't guys now fight? Not to compare Chavez and GGG to legends like Duran or Hearns, but that GGG vs. Chavez fight should happen. If it does not happen because of promotion, that is a shame.

yeah, rush Porter and risk ruining his career

Porter would be a good fight if he establishes himself in his next few fights, bigger name with better resume = more revenue for Money

Come on Mayweather fight the WBO 147 Champion - Manny Pacquiao.
You are fighting these ''champions'' who does not posses a threat to you.

No wonder why the WORLD still wants you to fight Pacquiao.

I recall a Ring magazine cover back in the late 80's showing a hand coming out of the TV set clutching a stack of $$$ and the title was "Now you'll Pay" of coarse this was the onset of PPV into the main stream. Back in the Day the main men had to fight 3/4 times a year, title defences or exhibitions just to put bread on the table, all roads led to SRL who had become the big $$$$ kid of the lower weight divisions. But today we have the mega $$$$$ HBO/Showtime cable conglomerates spewing out obcene amounts of cash to the anointed few & there lies the rub, it's now all about becoming the Golden Goose scoffing out as long as you can in that PPV $$$$ trough & there's no room for anyone else except the anointed one, if yer want a little taster from that PPV $$$ trough you'd better sign up with Al Hayman/Goldenboy or kick back some of yer handout to the vultures in place.

We are know seeing what in effect is a complete monopoly/domination of the boxing scene by way of promotional blackmail. This is why mayweather ducked & dived his way into the Orbit of DLH who was the resident PPV Golden Goose, beat him & all the gold is yours & it's one thing getting there, but it's another bag of beans trying to stay there & Mayweather has played this set of cards perfectly, retiring when danger loomed he retired, pressed on pacquiao, he went on vacation, picking opponents who have large fan bases & on & on, real smart operator is floyd, he's played it like a fine fiddler.

If TR start getting sidelined then this is really going to be so bad for boxing in the main. It's farcical as it is, this is capitalism at it's apogee, you start out with 100 small promoters = competition, then there are 50 small/medium left, then there are 10 fair sized fish remaining & then there a 4 & those 4 are whittled down to 2 & as we know there is only one crown, someone has to submit & now we are approaching the end, a dictatorship that will collapse in on it's self, the dog that has chased it's tail has finally caught up with it & is consuming itself. The Pac/Mayweather debacle is the ultimate example of $$$ self preservation & the rest can go fcuk themselves, only when the punters stop weigning in with the PPV $$$ will you get any evolution or devolution in this case so you get promoters cooperating with each other to give the paying public what they really want to see.

If it happened and Floyd won, it would make him WBA/WBC/IBF champ (assuming he beats Maidana)
