not a shame but a disgrace. great post.

another great post. it is endemic of the current era that its defining fight hasn't happened, and damning that "fans" fully support this.

This is a great post. I agree. But like you said, Floyd fights guys with big fan bases so the PPV money will still be there. In the end the fighters will be the ones hurt. There will be no fab 4 era again until a bunch of fighters fight each other and make the great matches reality and for years there will be something to talk about for generations. Floyd and Pac and all the other fighters will still be seen as great, but not near other eras which actually fought each other.

Why not Shawn Porter vs. Keith Thurman, with the winner facing Floyd?

No one really knows who they are outside boxing insiders. Who will pay the PPV? Like Duranimal said, the large fan bases are who Floyd fights to get the sale of PPV. Porter is more of a risk than Maidana probably but less of a name- Maidana has that big backing, and he has fought big fights like Khan and Broner to earn his reputation. Nevertheless, it is very unlikely that he lands a clean punch on Floyd and knocks him out, so Floyd has a successful fight. Many years ago the top fighters like Duran,Hearns and Leonard, had to fight each other for the big paydays of a few million. Nowadays, a guy can get that fighting anyone, so they don't need to take the big chance for the big money.

He's smaller in dimension even though he's always been heavy. :think

That's why he dropped the weight cuz fighting at heavier wieghts... he didn't have any advantages.

Floyd Mayweather VS Marcos Maidana - WBC/WBA
Shawn Porter Vs Kell Brook - IBF

Porter has to fight Brook next in his mandatory so if he wins that heres his options

    - Marcos Maidana (after tune up)
    - Khan/Collazo winner
    - Kieth Thurman

Anyone of those fights would land him a mega bout unification with Mayweather for all the belts bar the WBO which is currently held by Manny Pacquiao

Floyd would have 3 fights left in his showtime contract and for me there are only 3 fights id like to see :

    1. Erislandy Lara
    2. Manny Pacquiao
    3. Shawn Porter / Kieth Thurman / Kell Brook / Amir Khan

Porter/Thurman are the two best American fighters at the weight and both are on an impressive run whilst Brook and Khan are flying the flag for the UK.

Should Brook beat Porter then Amir Khan he would likely be in for a shot whilst Khan would also should he beat Brook/Porter whilst Thurman will probably be overlooked as he fights the likes of Maidana/Collazo

Either way the Pac fight goes without saying and Id bet on Erislandy Lara to have the best chance at taking Floyds 0

I wouldn't put Diaz in journeyman level he's much better than that. He's a former champ and look what he did recently with Khan too. Past his prime former champ, but no journeymen gets robbed by Porter or Khan.
