You've said Khan will take 20-30million in the UK..a purse of around 50million and the highest ever UK PPV generated being around 5 million.. I'm asking you if you honestly believe he's going to get 80%+ of all sky customers to buy. 10x the UK PPV record

 

Even if Khan made £15m-£20m thats still alot of money

Darni, if it worked like you think in your mind we'd all be rich and retired by now instead of keeping afloat quarter to quarter. The highest a PPV boxing event could make in the UK is maybe, in exceptional circumstance, 1.4 million buys. That's about 7 million pounds to the purse. Taking into account an amazing gate, around 10million total to be split between the fighters.

That is why no matter what he might say, Mayweather is not coming here. The only big fights you'll ever see in the UK are ones whereby it makes less financial sense for it to be on U.S prime, where the British fighter does not have a large U.S following.

The only way Khan could make 10million+ is if he fought in Vegas on U.S prime like Hatton.

Currently the biggest PPV feasible by a long margin involving a UK fighter is Haye Vs Klit

No. It was just under 950k, which is absolutely massive for the UK market.

Depending on the location of the fight Haye Vs Klit could break it. But only if it were to happen in the Euro timezone. Given the economic situation I don't think we'll see a fight break Hatton's buys for a Las Vegas fight for a long time, if ever.

Also Darni, I just checked. You are correct in saying that Hatton's UK PPV was seperate to the 18 million dollars he took from the US, so it was actually probably close to £18 million

 

The 1.4 figure that people mention is because in the press it was released as "it could go as high as 1.4 million"... and of course people go about their daily business saying "blah blah the fight did 1.4million"

Hatton vs Mayweather took more than the Pac fight. He was unbeaten prior to the Mayweather fight and to the general UK public who don't really follow boxing beyond casually it was marketed that he's the best in the world, so it tapped into the market they wanted. By the time of the Pac fight he'd lost that edge, although it still did great.

Khan is nobody. Thats the be all and end all. Hatton probabaly did get about 15-20 million quid for the mayweather fight. That is MASSIVE money that Khan will NEVER generate from a single fight EVER
