He was a decent ref- but in his late career made some very questionable decisions and seemed biased towards certain boxers. I just watched Ruddock Tyson 1..WTF??? Don King promoted some if not all the fights in question.. You see where I might be going with this.
I never liked his stoppage of Taylor in JCC v Taylor. Taylor put on a boxing clinic and deserved the last 2 seconds. You never stop a war like that, especially not in the last 5 seconds of the fight
it all depends ...if your a chavez fans the rules dont change it was a great stoppage ... if your a taylor fan .. well the fight shoulda been left to finish ...
well you have your odd balls...like me? i aint a big fan of either and i think it was the right stoppage ... if the fight wouldn't have been stopped...and taylor goes on to have the disabilities that he has ...you'd have taylor fans lineing up around the block screeching that they're mad the fight wasn't stoped earlier! ... the only reason they aint saying **** now is because they have the 2 seconds left controversy to fume about
Well said. The ref is not the time keeper. He did seem to be very unpredictable at times.. and swayed, as far as favouring a fighter. Hard to get a clear view of his intentions a lot of the time. His head didnt appear to be up his arse, like Mills Lane, and he didnt seem to concentrate on keeping either corner satisfied..... Just done his job.. making King happy.
mills lane was about as side choosey as about any other ref i ever seen! ..that dude picked sides as he went along
it doesn't really matter, even though M.Taylor may have deserved the victory, JCC won in the long run. Taylor was never the same after that fight and was dismantled by Chavez in the rematch
