This fight slipped under the radar I guess. Decent step up fight for Torrez Jr as Joey can be a tough out. How will this one go down tomorrow night?
I expect Torrez to win, but it won't be easy. Dawejko isn't a bum, he always comes to fight, not just to lay down for a small paycheque.
This might be the first time Torrez goes the distance. Joey is pretty solid defensively and he can make you pay with counterpunches. Torrez shouldn't just walk right through him like he has done everyone else. Quite frankly, he needs a fight like this for his development.
Another demolition job for Torrez. Dawejko is shop worn to pieces, this Isn't exactly the step up the people wanted.
It's not a huge step up but is a step up. Torrez can't afford to step up too much; he has to cash in before he gets exposed.
Good developmental fight! A couple of others to watch... September 20th, Andril Novytskyi, who many are following, including our Rumsfeld, fights Shawn Laughry. September 21 Alexsei Dronov fighting Lamar Isom Reily in a character builder. I am seriously interested in this guy. 22 years old, 6'5.5", and has won the world and European youth championships.
Good for getting some rounds in, but I'm not expecting a serious challenge. Maybe Torrez can show his boxing skills a little bit instead of just walking through Dawejko like he did to his previous opponents.
Dwyer says Torrez is the only boxer who can beat Usyk. If he's right, it'll be an early night for Joey.
I saw that Torreszbroke him down pretty convincingly. What does that tell us about him? Is he bog and athletic enough to go to the top rung?
This is a good win! Shame Dawejko got himself disqualified, but good stuff. Dawejko is a very skilled guy who never quite made even fringe contender because of his conditioning, but it means something. Torrezz is going to be controversial, but I believe in the guy. Watch his fight against Jalolov...he couldn't win, but there is no quit in this guy. He hits hard, always great condition, throws punches, and is schooled. Only thing that can hold him back is his size.
Torrez didn’t impress me much. He’s open to be hit and looks somewhat clumsy with his feet. However he does have heart, and some offensive ability I think he will make for some entertaining fights.
