The difference between Andy Gray and Jim Watt is...Gray was despised by the Sky staff...Watt is very well liked because he is a really nice bloke. Thats why hes been there so long. That said, he is well off the mark with so much of his analysis, thats why Sky really need to phase him out as soon as possible.
Jim watt should be moved out.Respect to a world champ.however time for a change, put woodhall as co-commentator, bring in more input from bob mee.
Jim Watt is my favourite commentator, but they need to pair him with someone positive yet knowledgeable to get a yin and yang effect.
I know Richie quite well, lovely fella, and very knowledgeable, for sheer comedy effect they should get old Lennie on the co commentary. an exact conversation me and Lennie had once, Lennie Woodhall : next time Pele Reid fights back him to get knocked out, hes got a glass chin . Williams 7383 : how do you know that, Lennie : cause we ****ing trained him and never start talking to them about fishing you wont shut them up
I must be the only person to enjoy Jim Watts' commentary. You've got to take what he says with a pinch of salt, but it's enjoyable none-the-less. He just needs to be paired with Teddy Atlas - now that's a world beating commentary double act. :good
watts alright. he says whats not obvious in a similar vain as teddy atlas. which sometimes goes WAY off the mark and misses the point completely. woodhall can be good and says the right stuff but his knowledge of the sport is sometimes too much and too little....he didn't know emanuel augustus. im not going to be a dick and say he is poor just for that. but....everyone has heard of augustus. and knows his M.O. i think he is too into the amateur game and too euro orientated. nothing bad about that but sort of seems to not go further a field which is where i think watt excels at he what makes a great commentary team is not ex pros but ex pros with other complimentary people. espn got it right with atlas and tessitore. 2 sides to the same coin. hbo sometimes have it but lampley and merchant seem to drift between on and off. with lampley being too over the top and merchant so sluggish he might slip out of his chair. kllerman.....meh. he isnt that bad but sort of seems like an esb poster. knows all the stats and statistics but needs to sort of learn the game a bit. itv wasnt bad by the way even though jim rosenthall is a talking plank.
Woodhall got my respect when he sat down for an interview with Sky after one of his fights and admitted he shouldn't have got the decision.
