    Y'all hilarious.

NOBODY in boxing wants to Al Hyamon under federal investigation, because it's bad for business. For everybody.

You think Top Rank wants to risk Haymon in court justifying his business model by explaining his dealings with previous Top Rank clients (Chavez Jr, etc.) and how their contract situation, or those with other promoters (Warrior, DiBella, Duva, etc.) looked?

You really think Golden Boy/ODLH want to explain in federal court how they benefited from that 'wink-wink' deal that somehow magically had all of Al Haymons fighters under their banner? Do you really think ODLH wants to explain how his company leveraged that relationship against the networks to secure better dates/money for Golden Boy promotions?

You really think SHO wants Haymon under oath discussing the nature of their relationship?

You think HBO wants to risk Haymon in federal court explaining how his model was in response to the handshake agreement HBO has that forces fighters to go through select promoters to get dates/paydays?

Do you think ANY of them want to be in federal court explaining all the blurred lines and incestuous relationships between networks, promoters, managers, venues, casinos, etc.

This is RICO-type, conspiracy level charges you're potentially talking about.

Boxing promoters, managers, and networks are no different from the mafia. Don King doesn't cheer when Bob Arum gets his office raided or vice versa. He gets SCARED. Too much money on the line and too much dirt on EVERYBODY'S hands to want to see the feds start digging into boxing.

    But keep on hoping though.

    This.

Haymon's made a fine living walking the tightrope between manager/adviser and promoter, but his hubris was his downfall.

He got too cute by a factor of half; the NBC deal was simply a step too far in dealing like a promoter. Performing certain roles of a promoter while calling himself something else to get around the Ali act worked well for him when he kept a lower profile....to me, it looks like Al just got too brazen with it as the arrogance of being the smartest guy in the room kicked in.

I don't think much will come of it, particularly as it relates to how he manages/advises and signing fighters for that aspect of his business.

The only thing I could see them dropping the hammer on are some of the pseudo-promotional aspects of his business.

He'll still maintain plenty of power and influence, but boxing's perverted version of a checks and balances system (of which the FBI plays a role) will stop him from gaining too much of it. As Sweet Jones said, nobody in power really wants to see him eliminated at the risk of how dirty things actually are being spilled.
