instead waited for weeks only to corroborate his numbers in the first fight.:rofl

I find it extremely difficult to must the least bit of sympathy for Espinoza.

Although, I do enter some tinfoil conspiracy theory territory, I do believe that Espinoza, Mayweather, Haymon, and Schaeffer all colluded with the goal of taking over boxing, thus eliminating HBO and Top Rank from being big players ( or at least the second biggest players, taking a backseat to them).

-Mayweather signed with SHO
-Espinoza did his part by doling out money for Mayweather and providing other money for dates and fights. Espooiza probably sold his bosses a good line, promising certain returns and thinking they would have Canelo after Mayweather retired so SHO would be positioned as having the biggest star and also attracting the most of other top talent through Haymon.
-Schaeffer put on good fights, stacking cards on SHO and pushing the very real thought that GBP and SHO were the best thing going. Schaeffer also did not resign guys to exclusive GBP contracts setting up Haymon guys to be free agents to be promoted by whoever Haymon and co decided.
-Haymon did whatever it is that Haymon does.

Things fell apart after Oscar refused to sell and publicly pushed Schaeffer out. Mayweather and Haymon weren’t yet ready to promote on their own and still needed GBP. Haymon went into a shell and reverted to protection mode. Espinoza, over his head when things didn’t go as planned, had to go along with Haymon’s crappy showcase fights.

The future may yet see Mayweather Promotions/Haymon Sports aligning and brining Schaeffer aboard and still being aligned with SHO. Except, their second biggest star is now signed with HBO, their biggest star is underperforming compared to expectations, and GBP is now working with HBO ( and claims to be open to working with SHO).

May/Hay may still take over the sport. Who knows? I just don’t think they responded to the obstacles that were thrown into their plan very well so far.

Getting back to Espinoza and not feeling sorry for him: He aligned himself with others that don’t report to who he reports to, who he is supposed to be making money for. Espinoza looks most foolish in my conspiracy theory because he was the one used by others for their gain and I am beginning to think he is too foolish to realize that even now.
