You the real McCoy, Curtis Woodhouse?

If so, good go the other night. :good

Could you see ever meeting up with him at welter, or have you no plans to move up?

Curtis, brilliant fight against Bull - who is tough as boots. That was one of the best fights this year and I think you will give Gavin a good fight.:good

was a good fight, you've adapted very well from football, most fighters with your boxing experiance are fairly crude, you looked strong at the weight but you will now enough to be aware that only sever pressure with gavin will work, but goodluck to you, ill be watching.:good

Searching is disabled (as always on fight night) so I'm unable to check and see if there's a more recent Godding thread...and didn't spot one on the 1st or 2nd page of the Brit Forum...so, :bump

Rick Godding won a referee's decision over Barrie Jones on the Walsh-Kays card. I only caught the last few rounds, but he looked well in control. Somehow the Sky team had it close (as in, there for Jones to win) entering the last frame. To my eyes, Godding completely flummoxed him with defensive movement and won almost exclusively with his left hand (landing his left jab at will, and his left hook on every other lateral step).

He is looking improved. Still not a crusher, but those hooks seemed to have a bit of zip in them.

Were you watching a Polish broadcast of the fight? I don't think it was televised over here. Good to hear he won though :good

I wasn't really watching it properly but I think Jones was giving him a few problems in the early rounds.

    It was on Sky, Kos.

I stopped watching it after the Vitali fight and put Rigo-Casey on. Didn't expect them to show another fight :patsch

It was shown on SKY, but they picked it up partway. I think they showed from the middle of round 3 all the way through the end of the 8th.

The referee had lifted Godding's arm almost before the bell rang to sound the 8th. It kind of freaked me out to see the celebration start so quickly without waiting for the judges; I'm not accustomed to that referee scoring nonsense you have in the UK. :yep

It must have been the early rounds he had success in, for the commentators to have the fight close.

In the second half Godding was schooling him pretty well.

Get the wrong referee and that's exactly what it is, nonsense. As our very own Jeff Thomas could testify.

Well, in this case the decision itself seemed fair (unless Jones swept the first half, in which case it would still be a draw at worst for RG). It was just odd that the ref was in such a hurry to hand in the verdict. At least wait for the men to return to their corners and get wiped down some, you know?

I thought the Godding result was fair to be honest, not a great fight- they kind of cancelled each other out but Goddings has a lot of class and just nicked it. Neither were ever mildly troubled and it was Godding who made the better start. Shame to be honest as I always thought Jones was destined for big things. He didn't look in the best shape- not unfit, but not super shape if you get me.
