Some of us may know that Rick Story looked amazingly impressive at UFC 130 in his UD win over former UFC Welterweight Title Contender Thiago Alves. Now, in less then 4 weeks after fighting a former #1 contender in Alves he's fighting a former Middleweight Title Challenger in Nate Marquardt (who is making his Welterweight debut) at UFC Live 4. Story is now riding a 6 fight win streak in the UFC Ranks with wins over Dustin Hazelett, Johnny Hendricks and the aforementioned Alves. If he manages to beat Marquardt, and that is a fairly big if, then that is a mightily impressive run in a very tough Welterweight division. Not to mention the fact that he just beat Alves and in less then 4 weeks he then goes on to beat Marquardt (again, assuming he does), who is notoriously tough to fight. It takes cajones of a massive size to take a fight like this on such short notice, especially considering who he fought previously. Win or lose this fight, I'm very, very impressed with Mr. Story.
X 2 He's a very very good all round fighter , remember he was a massive underdog against Alves who IMHO looked in very very good shape for that fight , not weight drained , not injured , and Story beat him !!!! I think he's got a great chance of beating Marquardt , the cut from 85 to 70 will be brutal for Marquardt and Story should be ready to go , i fancy Story here , and lets say he does win , him and Fitch should be nailed on .......... providing the UFC dont match Fitch and BJ again , or Sheilds , that makes a lot of sense . I digress , im really impressed with this kid and obviously the UFC are too
I dont think Marquardt will make weight. I really don't. IF he does, he's gonna look like ****. However, I have been wrong before.
